6 seconds of light

6 sec light.jpg (494 KB)

This is the Marken lighthouse, given its name due to its shape (‘paard’ means ‘horse’ in dutch). The original was built in 1700, then reconstructed on top of the early foundations in 1839. It’s still in use today for the recreational watersportsmen and woman.
Generated by electricity now, it gives 6 seconds of light, then 2 seconds in the dark.

Rocky path to the stunning John Suwan viewpoint is steep and challenging

those two in the dark were too hard to catch right?

It is called Marken because Paard means Horse?

    What?

So, it takes 8 seconds to go 360 degrees? (assuming it’s a rotating light). Or is it an arc light (electric) that arcs for 6 seconds, then shuts off for 2?

Damn, looks like Rodan comming in for the kill from the left.
