   I swear all my dog (I only have one, shih-tzu that acts like a cat) does is try to find different and more awkward positions to sleep in.

   I’ll actually catch her staring at a spot for a few moments before finding the most uncomfortable way to sleep there.

   I love that damn dog.

   Got a cat that does this. I often find him looking less like a sleeping animal and more like a body that got thrown from a plane crash.

   He’s a very tiny snail. About 1.5″ in full length and his shell is less than a cm in diameter. We found him when we took out the old AC unit and locked him up instead of setting him free back in the garden.

We found him in a parking lot in Brooklyn. A few years later he appeared in a movie with Robert Downey Jr. (Game 6). He is so black he barely registers on film.

   how the hell did you get a boarder collie to be an apartment dog? is she old? my girlfriend had to give hers back to the BC rescue because “Holly” couldn’t stand to be separated from her.
   (This breed is one of the most neurotic breeds ever- I’ve seen some whose chief pursuit is to watch water drip. If it doesn’t keep a regular drip flow, they start to freak out and bark at the tap til it does.)
   Anyway- how does she tend to the exercise and stimulation needs of this hyper-actively intelligent breed?

   Shes the calmest damn thing. She’ll kinda growl/low bark conversationally when people come in or whatever, but almost never really loud and agitated. We let her out a lot to run around on the apartment front lawn, and she catches Frisbees and stuff and loves tug of war, so that’s how we tire her out. That and the occasional running.

   Also we teach her tons of tricks, like high five, play dead, roll over, find all of her toys by name, and all of the apartment mates by name, and the cat as well. They play awesome together, and just do the basic chase / tag shit back and forth across the apartment, but never enough to knock shit over or anything.

   All in all we treat her intelligently, and never really hit her or anything, just stern voices and a ‘time out’ box that she has to sit in when she does something bad. Best and smartest dog I’ve ever had.

My Pet Cat – Walter

This is my adorable kitten Walter when he was a baby, he was a shelter cat from a litter of 6. The price for adoption was cheaper because they were black cats and people believe the myths… We paid full price because we don’t care.

   Just make real sure your neighbors are good with it, and cleared with the neighborhood association, if you have one, Nyokki. My friend Quillan ended up taking a disagreement over her animals to city hall. But if all’s well, you have the heart to do it, More power to you. Post pics of the new additions ok?

   @SumoSnipe: Thanx for the heads-up. No neighborhood association here. We purposely stayed away from sub-divisions and the like. It’s unbelievable the restrictions in some of those places. I’ve got a pic that should post in a couple of hours that’s an ~200 deg panoramic view of my yard. I don’t think the neighbors will be a problem. p

   To SumoSnipe: Fostering is very rewarding and if you can do it, you should! It’s alot of fun and you’re doing something wonderful for an animal.

   I don’t officialy foster…I don’t think that once I have an animal come in to my life, I’ll be able to let them go….My 2 youngest dogs came to me from folks that didn’t want to take em to the shelters. My boys now, they not going anywhere except the family ranch. And man its early, . Ouch, I just got the snakes name.

    @garbledxmission Eww, you ate a dove?! Lol.
    I’ve done a lot of survival camping with my dad and my uncle, and I’ve eaten snake and scorpion and rabbit before, plus numerous birds and rodents. I ate dog in China once but I’d never eat a cat. I’ll subsist on bugs and stuff before I ever willingly harm a feline. Mind you, with all the chinese food I’ve eaten, I probably have eaten cat at one point or another.

Wild pets…..

Wild, as in wandered in off the tropical forest and ended up on my stoop. The first is a Rajah Brooke butterfly. The second is a weaver bird. It weaves a beautiful hanging nest with many compartments.

Thought it would be nice to see something other than dogs, cats and ferrets.

   “wandered in off the tropical forest..” Ok jealous here. Have to go to the Bio Park/Zoo to get the tropical feel. We have the heat here, just not the water….Just how big do those nests get? Outside of a documentary I’ve never seen one.

   Hi Sumo Snipe…

   well…. we have very indistinct seasons here. SO… we are even., Anyway… those nests can range from a single occupancy to a multi tier deck. That bird is called a Baya Weaver. Lowland bird. If you ever find a chick on the ground.. it will grow nicely on ground dogfood and puppy food.

My Cat “Knuckles” on my Workspace

Very late submission, but it covers two themes. I named him Knuckles due to the fact that he has extra toes/thumbs on his front paws. These thumbs come in handy when he needs to pick things up or open doors/cupboards. I’m sure that one day he’ll burn the house down after he figures out how to use a lighter.

   @casemods: I’ve had 2 cats w/ extra toes and claws, 6 toes on front paws and had pseudo-claws running (roughly)1/3 the way up the legs. The one cat (Tom) had ~20 claws on his front legs.

Lower picture is my cat Murmur, whom I had to leave in Ontario when I moved to Banff. His name causes all kinds of problems when he gets taken to the vet.

This is my cat, Shoe. Rescued from the streets, he’s grown into a very loyal and affectionate little killing machine who waits for you at the door when you come home and eats or kills virtually every living thing smaller than he is.
