   Zhejiang = “Zhe River”. Just the name of the river. That character only refers to that river.

   Jiangsu = “Yangzi and Suzhou”, in older Chinese, “Jiang” was just the Yangzi. The “su” in Suzhou is a type of wild grass.

   A lot of these cities are translated “this state” or “that state”, so I’m thinking an American did this because “state” usually has a different meaning to non-Americans. “Zhou” originally meant “county” or “province” but now is usually just a suffix at the end of city names.

   “Viet Nam” could be father south. That’s clever and I never thought of that. But typically it’s associated with an old word meaning “southern tribes”, like “southern southern tribes” basically.

   Military Man should be “Martial Chinese”. The combination of two old city names that grew into each other.

   The “shaan” in Shaanxi is the name of a particular ancient city, probably taken from the old name for a mountain, and doesn’t mean mountain pass.

   Other than that seems pretty legit, although they make some weird choices.

     They have to plot around gravity masses, stars/planets/blackholes. The Hyperspace lanes are just areas devoid enough for safer travel. Now it says unknown but it’s a misnomer as some of it was once known but years and Sith Wars lead to knowledge being lost and people paying to have systems “lost” from the mapping archives.

     You hit a hyperspace lane it’s clear and fast sailing, you go where you have no clue or maps and your odds are crappy. At least if I’m recalling anywhere near correctly.

   the only problem is that the systems are not linear, so a map like this is only somewhat useful. it would have to be a 3d map to be able to actually navigate by it.. but in any case, this is interesting info.

   The chart is wrong for Massachusetts; Sam Adams is not brewed in that state. In fact the ONLY Brewery in Boston is Harpoon.

   Natty?! Natty?! There’s only one reason anyone used to buy natty ice in WV, it’s 6% alcohol. Until recently that was the highest allowed in the state. W/ that restriction gone there are a couple of good local breweries. Right now Mountaineer is my fave.

    I’m a little over an hour away from the Stone Brewery and have riddin there twice with some friends on the moto cycles. Both times I got a growler of IPA, a growler of Arrogant Bastard, and 4 large bottles of Double Bastard in a backpack that sits nicely on the backseat of the harley. I like strong beer, and love ridin, so these weekend beer runs are a blast.

      I agree, Widmir Hefe is the best
      of course we also have more brewerys here than any other place in the world. Portland Oregon is considered the Beer Mecca of the World.

      The largest producers in Oregon, all of which are high-volume American breweries, are:
      Deschutes Brewery, Bend
      Rogue Ales, Newport
      Widmer Brothers Brewery, Portland
      BridgePort Brewing Company, Portland
      The McMenamins brewpub chain
      Full Sail Brewing Company, Hood River

   I’ll take most hunters; but how are we not the best armed? All the tool bags getting robbed in Philly and Harrisburg all the time must be lowering our average.

   but some of these things are not fair.

   Texas: Most wind power: yes, a lot of Texans are full of hot air. this creates lots of varying thermal conditions.

   Lowest Coal Consumption? Who the hell cares, coal is clean and carbon netural. even if you think carbon matters. That just means that they are stressing the power grid by using less reliable & or more expensive forms of electric production. Because I doubt THAT State is using Nuclear.

   WTF is a mental health day?

     Maybe those ‘tool bags’ in Philly and Harrisburg know that trying to use a gun on someone who’s robbing you is a great way to get your stupid ass shot on top of still getting robbed.

     I hope you aren’t also drinking the Kool Aid about Marcellus Shale, but if you are and you’re living near the drilling, I wouldn’t suggest using the tap water to make your Kool Aid.

   Coal. A sedimentary rock that is primarily composed of carbon is carbon neutral? Are you fucking kidding me? Maybe when you throw a billion of dollars of carbon capture technologies into it. If you want carbon neutral energy you need to stop using fuels that contain carbon.
