I enjoy an occasional anime show, but the people that obsess about this stuff make me pity the human race as much as rednecks.

I have some friends who are into anime enough that they learned japanese… and total fail at the accent because they talk anime style. It’s so… yeah…

I still want to know how a nonsense word from a PBF comic that had -NOTHING AT ALL- to do even remotely with anime came to be associated with Otaku. ( Or how anime fanatics decided to start using a rather insulting Japanese term as a proud title for themselves…. )
I’m an anime fan myself. But there’s a difference between “fan” and “fanatic”. :p

You can never EVER be accepted fully into Japanese society. Even someone of Japanese decent, that was born and raised in the western world, would be shunned. It’s frustrating that they are like that, but can you blame them? We have such massive penis. Huge penis!

I was a weeaboo in high school and my first year of college…thank god, one visit to an anime club set me straight. Next to the fact everyone speaks Japanese in high pitched voices at any given time, they also felt the need to heckle characters too.

My roommate is still a weeaboo, but I’ve been setting her straight making her watch Futurama on my TV every night.

HOWEVER, Cowboy Bebop is great. Trigun is still pretty damn good too. I did like Fullmetal Alchemist up until I found the secret ingredient is people.

Japan just generally sucks at accepting people, my weeaboo roomate who is learning her Japanese from school not manga, went there to take courses, and said it’s awful to be anything other than Japanese and under the age of 17.

Assuming people in Japan are like the characters in anime is like saying that the people in the United States are just like the kids that we always see on MTV.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what a lot of people in the world believe.

#1 complaint I always had as an exchange program coordinator: Why couldn’t I be in California? :'(

I live in Southern California (in Orange County), and my family has been housing international students for the past three or so years. We’ve had students from Taiwan, China, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Vietnam, Poland, and MANY from South Korea and Japan. I suppose it’s a somewhat edifying experience…

@...Denmarkian: Figures. Just like every other bit of idiotic drivel that infests the Internet these days. I guess I shouldn’t try to hard to see the through line between the comic and anime fanatics…
