US backs E.U. space conduct code

The long-term sustainability of our space environment is at serious risk from space debris and irresponsible actors. Ensuring the stability, safety, and security of our space systems is of vital interest to the United States and the global community.

Unless the international community addresses these challenges, the environment around our planet will become increasingly hazardous to human spaceflight and satellite systems, which would create damaging consequences for all of us.

In response to these challenges, the United States has decided to join with the European Union and other nations to develop an International Code of Conduct for Outer Space Activities. A Code of Conduct will help maintain the long-term sustainability, safety, stability, and security of space by establishing guidelines for the responsible use of space.

USS Enterprise-C Coffee Table

The crafting site Etsy often has interesting home-made Star Trek items, but this one is especially impressive. Barry Shields from Tennessee is offering a coffee table shaped like the USS Enterprise C (from Star Trek: TNG’s “Yesterday’s Enterprise), carved from ash, poplar and cherry wood.

No idea why he chose to do the Enterprise-C, she was only seen in a couple episodes of TNG, and was ultimately destroyed by the Romulans…

Mobile weapon scanner for street sweeps

The NYPD is looking to create a mobile version of the kind of full body scans we’re all used to at airports, in that it’d show the shape of objects stored underneath clothing. The system would allow police officers to spot armed passerby on the street without ever having to get out of a police van.

this makes sense for places that don’t let their citizens protect themselves with guns, but for somewhere like Florida, you’d likely see a good number of legally concealed weapons…

   Under Terry v. Ohio 392 U.S. 1 (1968), law enforcement officers are permitted to conduct a limited warrantless search on a level of suspicion less than probable cause under certain circumstances.        You’re wrong on a number of levels, but I’ll cut to the chase.

       It’s a moot point. Pretty much all martial arts can’t deal with multiple attackers or weapons. Anyone who claims different is usually delusional or ignorant.

       Criticizing BJJ for that is like criticizing BJJ for not working against a mortar strike.

       Even worse, the people who claim to be able to fight multiple attacks ad /or weapons usually are too incompetent to fight a single unarmed person, yet they believe they can fight when the stakes are even higher.

       The fact of the matter is that BJJ is proven to work, which is a lot more than you can say for a lot of other martial arts. That’s why people try to deride it so much.

           BJJ doesn’t claim to be suitable for that. What’s your point?

           And I am simply pointing out that most martial arts that claim to defend against multiple attackers or knife wielding opponents don’t.

           It’s pretty obvious that if a martial art can not beat 1 unarmed person, they aren’t going to be effective against more than on person.

           Honestly though, there are people who train multiple attackers and weapons realistically, and BJJ stacks up fairly respectably. It does better than you would assume. I personally have sparred against multiple attackers and shock knives. There are some situations where ground fighting is actually essential.

           But the main point is no matter what you do, there is no real training for those situations.

       I find that people need an educated mind to appreciate MMA.

       Most people can get entertained by flashy moves and big knockouts, but can’t appreciate the more subtle elements that come from the grappling aspect of MMA.

       Watching grappling is like watching a chess game. If you don’t know what’s going on, you’re not going to get a lot of entertainment value from watching it.

         I R never seen any MMA or UFC. Never seen it on pay per view or free on Spike TV or USA. I have never even been to an MMA Gym to watch UFC and I don’t know anyone that trains in MMA… NOT!

         I don’t have a problem with MMA. Hell, Ninjutsu is pretty much traditional MMA. I have a problem with the people that practice MMA. Most practice the art and act like neanderthal with a shitload of ego seeking out conflicts/fights. This goes against EVERYTHING martial arts is about. The fanboys of UFC act even worse. Besides MMA is becoming a joke like boxing at this point as a sport.

           I never said BJJ or MMA was greater than your silly martial art. Good lord, do you know what projection bias is? I made criticisms that pertain to training methods. That’s what you don’t get.

           Hell I could make criticisms of all martial arts all day and you would nod your head in agreement. But you fly off the handle at the slightest criticism of your precious flower.

           And that’s the point.

           While you’re busy bragging about how much you understand what it means to be a a martial artist, maybe you should ask yourself if you really understand all you pretend to.

           Pupu, for me martial arts is a lifelong journey of self discovery. To take such a journey, one has to constantly empty the mind and relearn what you think you know.

           It is not about constantly telling yourself that those silly neanderthals just don’t get it

           You condemn me for claiming one martial art is superior to another. Which I didn’t do, but you’re so defensive you aren’t even deeply considering what I’m talking about.

           Then you turn around and mock other martial artists for not “getting it”.

           Is any of this getting through your prejudices?

           puulaahi, I think it’s time the curtain came down.

           I really just wanted to see how you would respond to a little prodding, so I chose three things that are sore spots for a lot of (or most) martial artists. One was direct criticism of you. One was criticism of your martial art. One was a criticisms of your training methods.

           You responded in a predictable manner. Not necessarily surprising, considering the mountains of pride every martial artist tends to carry around.

           You have spent the majority of this discussion telling me how one martial art is not better than the other, then on the other hand insisting how much better you are than those silly neanderthals.

           A friend of mine who instructs BJJ loved your comment. He wants to know if he can walk around with a club since he’s a neanderthal.

           Now the truth comes out. I do Bujinkan. I have for a long time now. Also Krav Maga, but that’s another story.

           Hey, I’m isreali. That was what was the shit when I was born.

           Let me tell you the most important thing I learned in Bujinkan: There is no such thing as a martial art. There are only training methods and techniques.

           I admit that I was trolling, but I wanted to see if you could step away from your biases. Instead you responded as most martial artists do went pressured about their beliefs.

           One friendly piece of advice. You claim to believe that no martial art is superior to another, yet on the other hand you display a large amount of prejudice towards certain martial arts. I started a discussion on a training method that you turned into a wank fest over the superiority of on martial art to the other.

           I urge you to think a little deeper about these so-called sport fighters. There is a mountain of thing you can learn from them. I think if you came to really understand them, you would see some of them have the spirit of true Bud?.

           I actually came here at the behest of a friend of mine who posts occasionally here. He described this place a a cesspool of “trolls, sociopaths, nerds, geniuses, and perverts, all packaged together for maximum entertainment value.” He actually has a high opinion of you.

           And here is some weapon sparring from the Dog Brothers. I think the successes and failures of ground fighting techniques are thought provoking. Some people may dismiss these fighters as “cavemen” or thugs.

           I know what real technique looks like… I have friends who train in MMA and BJJ…Kung Fu…

           There are plenty of neandertals in martial arts and most are in and fans of MMA.

           I know what the point of martial arts is…

           Look outside of yourself. This game you just played says everything about the pride you yourself have man.

           In parting I am a completely different person offline and especially from MCS.

           Bujinkan is the art of no art. I am no expert on it, nobody is. Even Soke is humble on what he knows and does not. Martial Arts exists only to be a better person then you were yesterday. Ethically, physically and most of all, spiritually. Everything in life is budo.

           Martial Arts is so much more then how to defend yourself and most certainly goes beyond the color of your belt. Rank is bullshit. Talk is bullshit and there is far too much talk. The whole “my martial art is better then your martial art” is as worthless as the current state of the modern world.

           I train 5 to 8 times a week in Bujinkan. My dojo trains in all aspects of the art more then two times a week. My instructor posts basic lessons on youtube and he is one of the most popular teachers on there. He is always stoked, so full of info he doesn’t remember names to everything and is insanely fluid with his movement. Ninjutsu has changed my life and has become my life. I suck at it and feel like a kook. But I know I have grown tons as a person and physically. I am defeating my illness’s because of it. I have met awesome friends for life and have more fantastic experiences coming. I have trained hard for 2 and a half years. So of course I am proud and of course it’s personal. I wake up almost every morning, depending on how I am feeling, before the sun comes up to train. I am that committed to the art. I train this much while work part time and doing 12 units of college work. Ninjutsu is my life now and I plan on training in other arts too. But I doubt I will find another dojo like this one ever. They are my family.

           If you weren’t a judgemental prick playing games, we could have had an actual conversation about martial arts and Bujinkan. So fuck you.

   I don’t think you could have a discussion, considering the utter outrage generated over a little criticism. Apparently talking to you like you talk to other people makes me an asshole. Besides, I don’t think you would like what I have to say.

     You act like you know me, you don’t.Every response you have is condescending. So naturally I respond back so.

     I speak to people with respect, compassion and with an open mind. If I didn’t I would have been kicked out or forced out of the dojo, my job(Which deals with people) and even school a long time ago. Get some perspective and step off your high horse. Only then will I respond relaxed. Besides, I honestly don’t care what you have to say, wouldn’t carry any weight anyhow. I doubt any advice you have for training would be helpful.

     Congrats on burning a bridge before one was even built.
