    The Trench review

    71Nv0CUPnRL. SL1128 707x1024 The Trench

Daniel Craig stars in this riveting drama that follows a group of young British soldiers stationed on the Western Front during World War I. Directed by novelist William Boyd and featuring an outstanding supporting cast including James D’Arcy (Agent Carter) and Ben Whishaw (The Danish Girl), The Trench is set on the eve of the devastating Battle of the Somme.

An hour of boredom (weeks of these poor guy’s lives) capped off with everyone dying in the most pointless battle of that week in WWI, and one of the worst loses that the British have ever suffered in a single day. Sad and pointless, but that’s what I’m learning about that war.

Omega Sub #5 Death Dive review

    51H6wVy76L. SX308 BO1204203200 Omega Sub #5 Death Dive

The Omega Sub fights whales and a pack of dogs!

This was much easier to read than the last few books in this series, but it was all ruined with some anti-science diatribes from the main Mary Sue character. There’s still no answers for the zombie like White Shirts, and no real answer for any there are absolutely no survivors to be found, with the exception of a family off the coast of New York, which is why the Omega Sub is out fighting whales, they’re going from the Pacific to the aforementioned New York island.

Can’t suggest this book, nor this series, not a whole lot of real plot development going on, just action with guys mowing down zombies with machine guns at full auto. Fake machine guns too, which is weird, it’s not like the type of weapons the US Navy was using in the 80’s was a state secret. Sidenote, why the author chose a 9mm Franchi (real company, fake caliber), I’ll never know. They’re a foreign company out of Italy with a name that sounds like France, both of which I would assumed the apparently right wing author wouldn’t approve of.

    Godzilla 2014 review

    91HMi bv wL. RI SX300 Godzilla (2014)

This spectacular adventure pits Godzilla, the world’s most famous monster, against malevolent creatures that, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Found a UV code for like $3, so hell yeah, godzilla got watched. I wasn’t posting about watched movies when this came out in 2014, but I remember feeling like they wasted Brian Cranston’s great acting potential by doing what they done did do to him here, but now that we’ve had a longer time from how excellent Breaking Bad was, I think it was a good decision to not make him the primary focus of the film. There were also a few complaints back in ’14 about how the film didn’t immediately focus on the giant monsters, but that’s another decision that definitely worked out for the better.

It’s been over 3 years since we saw Godzilla, here’s hoping the upcoming quasi sequel will hold up to this first one, I really enjoyed it!

The Colossus of New York review

A1FtMcFo3dL. SL1500 795x1024 The Colossus of New York

When a brilliant scientist is killed, his preserved brain is transferred to the body of a robot, but this steel colossus begins a rampage of destruction.

Absolutely fantastic movie, it’s only an hour long, but man does it pack a punch. If you’re into cyborgs or futuristic body horror, this movie should be at the top of your watch list. There were a few moments where the Colossus spoke from the shadows that are now in my top 10 creepy moments in a film.

    Pacific Rim review

    81PCePKNDFL. SL1500 745x1024 Pacific Rim

Humanity has long been under attack from the Kaiju. Pilot-operated robots held the enemy off, but now mankind is near defeat and two unlikely candidates team up for one last stand.

I watched Gozilla, so I had to then watch Pacific Rim. They’re both great for different reasons, but tonight I’m going to say the Chainsword from Pacific Rim wins.
