4 ways a new Justice Department decision may radically reshape moviegoing

Undoing the Paramount Decree of 1948 will have consequences in 2019

This is not going to end well for the movie going public, sometime in the next 10 years I can nearly guarantee that we’re going to see a Disney+ movie theater that only shows Disney films.

    Mortal Engines

Directed by Christian Rivers. With Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan, Hugo Weaving, Jihae. In a post-apocalyptic world where cities ride on wheels and consume each other to survive, two people meet in London and try to stop a conspiracy.

After reading those books I was hoping that the film would have more of an impact on me, but no, it’s still an overly processed ridiculous film with too much energy and too little plot development.

I do note that at the end of the movie London is left broken and rotting in a field, where as in the book it’s blown to a billion pieces and everyone on it died.

    Slither

Directed by James Gunn. With Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Rooker, Don Thompson. A small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into zombies and all forms of mutant monsters.

Literally the only reason I bought this was because I had $5 in Fandango credit and I saw that James Gunn had directed it.

Imagine my delight when Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks and Michael Rooker showed up on the screen! This is standard James Gunn horror comedy well in touch with it’s B-rated roots, something that some of his more recent films haven’t been, for better or worse.

This is a fun campy flick though, if you happen to have the opportunity, it’s a good gross out movie.

    Terminator Genisys

Directed by Alan Taylor. With Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney. When John Connor, leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline.

I was telling a fellow about Terminator Dark Fate and they asked if it was as bad as Genisys. I straight up could not remember a single detail of the film, other than the fact Emilia Clark was in it.

The answer is no, Dark Fate is not worse than Genisys. There’s many reasons, but most of them get back to why Terminator is floundering as a franchise, too many hands in the pot and taking itself too seriously.

    The Dead Don’t Die

Directed by Jim Jarmusch. With Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tom Waits, Chloë Sevigny. The peaceful town of Centerville finds itself battling a zombie horde as the dead start rising from their graves.

Why don’t the dead die? Well, there’s a theme song for that.

This is a goofy and surreal zombie story that has enough of a weird element that I’d suggest you watch it while not being distracted by something else.
