Created by Steven Lisberger, Bonnie MacBird. With Elijah Wood, Tricia Helfer, Charlie Bean, Elizabeth Ho. In the computer world of the Grid, a young program joins Tron’s fight against their world’s tyranny.

The last bit of Tron I can get from Disney+, I’m still sad that this ended on a cliffhanger and there hasn’t been any follow up at all. There’s some heavy hitting VO work here and some damn good special effects.

If you’re a Tron fan, you owe yourself a few hours to check this out, just be aware that the Disney+ version omits the first episode for some stupid reason.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski. With Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner. The son of a virtual world designer goes looking for his father and ends up inside the digital world that his father designed. He meets his father’s corrupted creation and a unique ally who was born inside the digital world.

One of my top 5 movies, I think this is actually in my top 2 with Rocketeer sometimes at one and sometimes Tron: Legacy at one.

I love the soundtrack, I love the story, I love the aesthetics, there are no complaints about this movie that I can make.

I do have one minor issue: Disney still hasn’t give us a 4k release of the movie yet.

Directed by Steven Lisberger. With Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, Cindy Morgan. A computer hacker is abducted into the digital world and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.

Some mind blowing ideas that are done in a hacky way, but the story lead to Tron: Legacy, so I can’t complain at all.

Holmes & Watson

Directed by Etan Cohen. With Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Ralph Fiennes, Rebecca Hall. A humorous take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mysteries featuring Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson.

A previous Holmes movie named “Without A Clue” asked “what if Sherlock Holmes was an alcoholic idiot?” and answered it with “then Dr Watson must be the brains of the operation!”.

“Holmes & Watson” asks a similar question : “what if Holmes AND Watson are idiots?”. The answer is less funny than ‘Without A Clue’ but certainly not worthy of the negative critical reviews that followed it’s release. It’s exactly what I would expect if the two Step Brothers cosplayed Sherlock for a weekend and has some really funny jokes and a story that isn’t complete garbage.

Mortal Engines

Directed by Christian Rivers. With Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan, Hugo Weaving, Jihae. In a post-apocalyptic world where cities ride on wheels and consume each other to survive, two people meet in London and try to stop a conspiracy.

After reading those books I was hoping that the film would have more of an impact on me, but no, it’s still an overly processed ridiculous film with too much energy and too little plot development.

I do note that at the end of the movie London is left broken and rotting in a field, where as in the book it’s blown to a billion pieces and everyone on it died.

The trailer for this film was silly and made the film look silly.

Mind you, this is a silly film, but it’s slightly less silly than the silly trailer made it seem.
