Dora and the Lost City of Gold

Directed by James Bobin. With Isabela Merced, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria. Dora, a teenage explorer, leads her friends on an adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery behind a lost city of gold.

Enjoyably selfaware, I’m getting to be a pretty big fan of Isabela Merced (moner?), though it’s illustrious to see how she went from being an offensively sexed up teen in a Transformers movie to being a pinnacle of earnest virtue here as Dora.

Enjoyable if you’ve been drinking a bit and would like to continue to drink.

    Defiance 2050

Join your friends and become an Ark Hunter in a massive cooperative online shooter like no other. Choose from an array of fully customizable weapons and classes, explore a unique futuristic open world, and engage in epic fast-paced third-person shooter combat.

After a recent rewatch of the TV series I figured I’d give the game a try, after all, it’s set after the tv series, right?

well no. Defiance 2050 is just a barely updated version of the original Defiance game that was running concurrently to the TV show. The story is not advanced, though there’s more to the world than what was shown in the TV series. Unfortunately it can’t get past it’s own MMO senses, so I gave up after several weeks of playing due to the repetitive fetch and guard quests.

    Aniara

Directed by Pella Kagerman, Hugo Lilja. With Emelie Jonsson, Bianca Cruzeiro, Arvin Kananian, Anneli Martini. A spaceship carrying settlers to Mars is knocked off course, causing the consumption-obsessed passengers to consider their place in the universe.

Surprising good visuals and acting, unfortunate that there was no english dub for me to listen to, so this was a subtitlted experience, which always distracts from the rest of the film.

I’m not sure how I feel about the ending, it’s pretty bleak.
