I don’t know what it is, but something about her manly, chiselled jaw really makes me want to fuck her. I’m not even going to ask if that makes me gay.

I use to love this movie as a kid that dude was super kick ass. It’s apparently a knock off of a long running Japenese show – en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zatoichi

This movie was cool when it came out.
Of course I did like guns and ninjas at the time.
I have a feeling that if I watched it now – I would be to embarrassed to talk about it.
-
Wow, I think I remember Rutger Hauers last major film to be Surviving the Game with Ice T. Too bad he didn’t have the Blind Fury when Ice capped him in the head!!
-
Rutger Hauer = The Man.
Also, he was the basis for the protagonist in the Shadowrun game for SNES.

Is it wierd that the first thing I thought when I saw this was; “Most of those guns are still capable of firing?”
-
you fuckers know token2k6′s comment made you lose the game
-
That poster certainly doesn’t capture the mood of the movie. Very strange.
I like Rutger Hauer as an actor. “The Hitcher” was kick ass. “Flesh and Blood” was great as well.
I doubt I’ve seen all his flicks- are there any that sucked?
-
I must say, Natedog has a point.
token2k6: You Phail. And by association, anyone who is wondering why token phails, also phails. Go watch the movie again. Just to reinforce how much you phail.
Here endeth this public service announcement.
-
Rutger Hauer is one of my favorite actors and I’m willing to watch pretty much any movie he makes. If you want a fun li’l movie, check out “Split Second”.
-
Phyreblade is totally right, Token2k6 did phail … Hauer tries to shoot Ice but Ice clogged his gun, which backfired and killed Hauer. Ice didn’t shoot him in the head!
Token2k6 is also the same guy with the huge DVD collection [see post]
-
@ Phyreblade and ttudrew98: I really have to hand it to you guys…did you guys go out to blockbuster to re-watch the end of this shiteous movie or just look it up on wikipedia?? Sorry I’m not fresh up on my late 1990 movie endings as much as you guys are. And besides, Ice may not have DIRECTLY capped him in the head, but he did cause his gun to explode at his head when he clogged it, so its almost the same thing. NO FAIL!!!! (OH AND WTF did PHAIL come from? Maybe an inate knowledge of crappy movies allows you to spell like this..?)

What to do you expect Tom Cruise?
This is what a real ice cold killer looks like.

Uh, What? Yes, Yes it is for the F-35, Just go to the VSI site or Google “F-35 HMDS”, The first two photos are of a American test pilot and the final two are from the RAF’s testing of the same system their Tornadoes.
As to exports, Italy, the UK, Turkey are buying them. Canada, Denmark, Norway, Australia and the Netherlands are still on the fence but are expected to purchase them. Israel, Singapore and India are also interested in it.

I think Leno could be the perfect US version of Clarkson. Adam Corolla? ill pass. He does share names with a small car however…maybe that counts for something?
-
Do not want.
-
Top Gear USA is to Top Gear UK as Office USA is to Office UK: lame, watered down, boring, bullshit crap.
And where the hell is the grumpy, ugly, middle aged man?
-
Yea, I’ll pass. I’ll watch the 10 seasons I have of the real Top Gear instead while waiting for new episodes.
-
It the hosts, not name of the show.
Top Gear USA will fail miserably.
-
Top Queer more like.
-
Am i the only one who loves Adam Carolla? No homo!
-
Top Gear is popular because of the hosts.
Unless the other two are mysteriously hilarious this will suck major ass.
-
What makes Top Gear are that 2 out of 3 hosts are flabby, crabby brits with a dry sense of humor. Adam Corolla has as much charisma as his car counterpart.
And anyway… that thin veil of advertising they’re paid to do for featured cars… say good bye to the veil. This show would clearly be an advertising vehicle (sorry) for the ailing US auto industry, and not much else.
-
Do not want Top Gear USA. I’m a fan of Adam corolla , but again do not want this show.
Just give me more Top Gear UK.

Isnt the new Series of TG UK due on this weekend? I’ve d/led and rewatched 1-10 over the past couple of months a fair few times.
-
Adam Corolla’s act is so damn tired, I cant believe that guy is still slouching into roles. He has gravy trained his whole career off better talents…well dr. drew was also a major jackass.

The 71st plate from German biologist Ernst Haeckel’s Kunstformen der Natur, showing radiolarians of the order Stephoidea. Radiolarians form intricate mineral skeletons, usually with a central capsule dividing the cell into inner and outer portions. Radiolarians are found as zooplankton throughout the ocean and are important diagnostic fossils, found from the Cambrian period onwards.

Diagnostic fossils? Like the coelacanth is a diagnostic fossil? Just wondering…

I love the way fractal geometry pans out. There’s something aesthetically pleasing about the complexity of very small things.
-
Feed Flash Gordon to the RADIOLARIANS!

@ DCR
They have a rapid turn-over rate which means they can be used to age other fossils found in the same strata as well as the strata itself.

Is that an M4 modified into a led guzzling killing machine (or more then it was before) water cooled?
Why?!

Its a custom upper. Slap on some manner of ar lower, attach the KAC spade grip, and load up some drums.
As far as use, you could attach it to a jeep or truck, and have your own “technical”

“I think we’ll take off and nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.” ..to be exact..
-
Indeed.
A good idea, except for the substantial dollar value attached to it.
-
It’s not like sending in infantry or motorized divisions is free, either. Nuke is arguably cheaper, and a lot faster, not to mention more reliable.
And please don’t start with the whole “Nukes are bad for innocent civilians/the environment/public image” nonsense. Sure, they are. Alright, we know this. It doesn’t mean they don’t do their job, which is to blow shit up.
-
I think someone has missed the continuing quote here. It’s been too long since I’ve seen this movie. I’m going to be very disappointed if no one has created a power loader by the time I die.
-
I believe it was DUST off and nuke the site from orbit. But I could be wrong.
too lazy to look it up though.
-
Hive Mind is correct. It is “Dust off.”
-
From the script:
RIPLEY (to Vasquez)
No good. How do we know it’ll effect their biochemistry? I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
-
Win. Perhaps the most WIN ever crammed into a single paragraph ever portrayed on screen.

So how’d you put it together? I know nothing about carpentry, so I have no idea how to make something like this. The books next to the violin seem especially in danger of causing it to collapse, but WTF do I know, I only build things with bytes and bits.
-
And is it just me, or is that violin missing a bridge?
-
Nope, no bridge; which is prolly why it’s on a shelf and not in a case.
-
Yeah, seriously, what are the odds of you posting the ‘how to’ or at least the measurements? It would be a fun summer project, especially if people jumbled up the pieces and such. Good job, and yes, it’s a bit sad that the violin looks like it’s more of a decoration piece..
-
hooray! i was hoping you’d make a post like this.
for people who want measurements, it’s easy; a VHS case is what? 7″ tall, roughly?
you can guess the size by the pieces; if they’re all properly squared, that is. a tetris piece is made of squares so if one of those is 7″x7″ and you count the bits of wood as well, you should be able to easily guess the size of the shelf.
my guess is about 45″ by 30″ or thereabouts.
-
My mate just gave a recommendation.
How about making the pieces separate so it can be reconfigured into different shapes?
You could put magnets or tongues and grooves in the walls to keep it together.

-
Actually, no, Nathan. From the earlier pics, it clearly looked like it was just nailed together, with no joinery whatsoever. This is because what we thought was a picture of the case unpainted was a picture of the case unpainted without any form of assembly. It was an honest mistake.

Yeah, the I saw that violin for sale for £6 and I just couldn’t resist. Probably why it’s in such bad shape….
And for those of you interested in joints and such; when two of the boards meet to form an “L” shape, I used biscuit joints and when two boards meet to form a “T” shape, I used dowel joints. I can also strongly recommend staying as far away from dowel joints as possible; they’re inaccurate (even with a jig) and difficult to drill without going completely through the wood.
To give the shelves a bit more “grip” for smooth objects like DVD and CD case I mixed a tiny amount of sawdust into the final coat of varnish on the shelves that face upwards, so it’s ever so slightly gritted.
It was also my initial plan to have it so that the shapes could be rearranged but I quickly decided against it when I realised how much wood I would need, as the wood essentially “doubles up” when the blocks are stacked. Accuracy would’ve also been far more important.
General specs are:
1320mm high, 880mm wide, 200mm deep
Boards are 18mm thick.
There is no exact shelf height or width (although as someone guessed correctly, the height is supposed to be about a centimetre higher than a VHS/DVD case, which is about 20cm), because I had to make it vary for it all to fit together but if anyone is interested in recreating this, tell me and i’ll email you the specs, working drawings, component list, 3D design, even a production diary if you want it. I’ll probably post some of the working drawings here too.
-
Oh yeah, and the violin also only has two strings.

Before reading the text i thought: ‘Why do those strange white things hail the lighte?’
*durr*
Dammit, you’re lucky if your car isn’t parked outside when those things go down.
-
Hail penus.
-
Hah! thankfully I don’t live in Erie County anymore.
-
Chautauqua here. No hail
-
I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and yesterday it hailed for the first time in forever. And these were all almost golfball sized. I almost got caught in it, I was about to leave a coffee shop with my friends and it started right when we were getting up from our seats. Ridiculous.
-
Due to a recent theme on here, at first glance, I thought it was someone’s “crack collection.”
-
I always hear about hail in places like NY and stuff, but in NC we don’t get shit. The only hail I’ve seen here was pea-sized.

This actually happened on the 16th of June. Bodero, I don’t think it ever made it down your way, it seems to have nailed the Tonawandas, through Cheekadavegas, and then blasted through Depew/Lancaster.
What time of day did it hit Ontario, Dondivad? We got it around 6:30 PM.
I have a confession, Joe Rogan. I smoke rocks! It does sort of look like crack, I suppose.
And ohmybob, you folks get enough flooding and crap in NC, so don’t feel left out. My uncle has gotten some real crap weather down there a few times in the last 10 years.
Oh, hell, one more. reifiedbeans, what part of Erie County did you live in?
-
At first glance I thought those where HUGE balls of Crystal Meth. I think the lighter was a bit suggestive.
-
Yeah, in retrospect it was a bad choice. As I stood outside watching the hail stones melt, all I could think was that I needed something quickly for a size comparison. I reached into my pocket, and found my lighter…
-
cause only meth-heads own lighters, right?

I dislike the hulk and american comic books. There said it.
-
I saw Hulk #2 today.
I’d rate it a 6/10, because I was drunk.
-
I saw Bram Stoker’s Dracula drunk in the theater. When I saw it sober, I liked it better drunk.

Finally! A car I can reach the spark plugs on…
-
Divorces are so messy.
-
This is obviously the aftermath of any Shonen anime you care to name.
-
@AHC: Well then don’t buy shitty american cars with transverse V-engines!
You haven’t seen spark plug difficulty unless you’ve seen the likes of the gasser smart cars (6 plugs on a 3cyl, half of which lie under the exahust manifold, and it’s a rear-engined car), or like a porsche (engine’s literally gotta be unbolted and tilted a bit to get at them), heck, the old hemis had 16 plugs!
-
Classified ad should say “used cars for sale: Buy one, get one free”

This game? Amazing. This image? Nice try. The conecpet? Wonderful.
-
Would’ve been better if you used an actual white wolf and actual red paint and an actual Celestial Brush and an actual slab of jade on the back and actual fire. C’mon, people, get with it.
