The language in the story is very loose and informal, to set it in motion with a modern day point of view (i.e. "wetdreams"). The entire story is about a man who tries to become accepted by a suicidal murderous cult, but learns he'd have to kill his best friend in the process, along with a few family members. But the story is set in motion when he is ordered to kill the first person he saw after he left the cult meeting, like you've read above.</p> <p>The cult worships a celestial being who they call Pandora (they prefer the being to be nameless, but they believe the being to be female, thus they unofficially named it Pandora), and they believe that in order to return to "Pandora's Cradle" and be reunited with their true mother, they have to sacrifice certain people, and then ultimately themselves.</p> <p>I haven't gotten to work on David or his best friend Jason as characters, but I've been toying with alternatives for the plot and setting and that one I just explained sounds pretty good to me. And if it's a sad ending like he quits the cult and gets a gob for a charity but then the cult kills his family and then him and he's waiting but he doesn't know they're gonna kill him and then in the final moment he receives a bullet in the back from an unknown source, he can quote the saddest part from "I Am Legend" a la "Withnail and I".
