I had taken an astronomy class a few semesters ago, and my professor told us that it takes more than a couple million years for the light produced at the center of the sun to travel from the core to the radiation zone, but only 6 minutes to travel from the radiation zone to Earth… It’s insane to look at the sun right now, and realize that light was produced during the Cambrian period… Insane.

@... pBanana, I think your professor meant the “energy” produced in the center takes an extremely long time to reach the surface. The light we see comes from the photosphere, not from the center. Though I agree, the complex structure of the sun is pretty awesome.
