I was fired for some rather dubious reasons, but it boiled down to the fact that someone on the board of directors didn’t like the fact that I had a job, so they lobbied to correct that situation, and thus I find myself wondering how I’m going to make my next mortgage payment, or how I’m going to buy my next beer (answer, no beer until I’m back in the work force).
That being said, now that I’m temporarily unemployed, I’m going to devote much more time to the various websites that I have created and just let coast, including www.internet-d.com www.movieties.com and www.myconfinedspace.com My first task to to create a new “landing page” for mcs. This also means TIMELY posts on internet-d and movieties, so please feel free to visit those sites.
Another thing this means? I’m going to be in the MCS chatroom MUCH more, and I’m going to need people to talk to, so feel free to swing on by. This is going to be a full time gig for a while, so starting 8:30am EST until

Isn’t it strange when people get fired, or thrown out of bars or arrested, they have no idea why, haven’t done anything wrong and it’s all some assholes fault. The unemployment lines and jails are filled with innocent bystanders who were just minding their own business. Eh. Just sayin.

oh it’s very true. I know that there was some bad blood between me and some of the board members, but they were ALL honey and sweetness when they talked to me, never once said “hey buddy, you need to do X to keep your job”.

That sucks, but at least you’re focusing on doing something constructive in the meantime.
On your other sites, I’d focus on whether or not they are individual enough from the others to keep. For example, drunk-tiki is pretty much all stuff from here but with less formatting. If you want to try and up the hits on some of them, maybe offer MCS+ for people who contribute valid and useful content to the other sites, rather than just flooding comic images with ponies (I’m looking at you coon!)

I just got laid off from my job this week with less than 12 hours notice. I did a PHENOMENAL job, and I’ve slacked off on many jobs before, but this one, I kicked ASS. Some people just get like that.
My car also completely crapped out on me, I broke my elbow, am still recovering from three broken ribs, and my boyfriend recently totaled his car a month ago. And my birthday’s in a few days.

For me sure it may be pricey living here in SoCal, but most good I.T. jobs out here will start ya at 50K annually (my group ranges from 55k to 70k, one of these mofo’s pulling in 100k!) and its sunny and no less than 60 degrees 300 days out of the year.

You have to do something repeatedly AND ignore the warnings:
(Examples: Late to go to work, Be dirty, delay to produce, Don’t smile, Do Something wrogn) So.. you keep ignoring boss warnings for like 4-5 times and keep doing it wrong, will get u also fired.
No Big bullshit? No ignored warnings? No lessen of staff due lack of customers? Customers were happy? In that case you should have quit earlier, you have to be very happy for getting fired, because the money wasn’t enough to see at those mad ugly faces every day.

First of all I want to say I am sincerely sorry for tiki and the others who mentioned it here, losing their jobs. I’ve been there – although a long time ago – and it isn’t easy either emotionally or financially. My advice is take a day or two off and drink heavily and then get to work finding work, because having a goal is the only thing that will keep you sane.
That said, it doesn’t sound like all that hopey-changey stuff is working out well, does it?

I got fired in late 2010 b/c of some political crap at the city I was working for. I enjoyed the next 5 months of collecting unemployment, spending a couple of hours a day looking for work, mid day naps, plus the occasional nooner when my wife came home for lunch, and spending the rest of the day playing WOW or Star Trek Online.
Overall, unemployment was a enjoyable experience for me. I hope you enjoy yours also!

I’ve been through Facebook redesigns (before I deleted my account), and a half dozen Fark redesigns (but I still keep my account there), so I’ve become used to redesigns even though I might complain. As long as you do not increase the number of ads on M[C]S, I won’t actually care despite what sort of complaints I might leave. Just do what you think is right, Tiki, and the posters here will get over it because most of us do not have any sort of online community beyond Facebook, and the people that the other M[C]S posters associate with on Facebook are real people and thus there are repercussions to posting activity (like look at NK and Maggie, real life people would be extremely unhappy to find out they know trolls like NK and Maggie). Just do what you need to do since you are the owner of M[C]S and we will either get over it or leave.

I think mixing up different people’s posts would alleviate the problems people are having with ponies, which is really just a specific instance of a whole bunch of similar content being submitted by one person at once and then being posted sequentially. I’m not sure how things work on your end, but if it’s not too difficult, maybe have a limit of the number of sequential posts one submitter has?
Also, as for the layout, as long as things still work and load quickly, it’s fine. I suppose my main complaint with the site currently is that the low-rated comments and their child comments are perhaps a bit too greyed out. I can see the low-rated comments being greyed out a bit, but it doesn’t necessarily make sense for the child comments.
Also, you have the tag cloud there, but no new posts have tags. That just seems a bit strange to me.

Actually, most of the tagged posts were from when users could type in their own tags for each post. It seemed to work out mostly well. And honestly, even the occasional post with poor tags is better than no tags at all.

Whatever you do, ABSOLUTELY keep the random-pic thumbnails at the top of the page –I’ve come across a fuckton of interesting shit in the months since you installed it, and it keeps the reposts down, too (also, minor mention: the page-number links at the bottom of the page, could they be at the top as well? At one point they were @ both…just makes navigation slightly easier.)
Keep the 1-5 stars pic rating (neg stars? howzabout just not giving something you dislike any stars?) and the thumbs-up/down post rating. I agree with goatsgomoo about the greying of child comments, although it’s something I can live with if tweaking it’s too complicated.
Get rid of Anon posting. Making them enter more info in order to post will only encourage the more dedicated trolls to stick around. I mean, has it really helped at all, in terms of increasing participation/posting volume? Seems to me that it just encourages more dickishness. And this is coming from someone who is hereby admitting to using it a few times just to be dickish.

I check in on this site a couple times a day just because it’s part of my daily routine, but there’s other sites out there that provide more content and more to look at that I go to first. As an example, thechive.com has the same type of content, but far more of it. Certainly far less of those retarded pony cartoons.

I’ve been through Facebook redesigns (before I deleted my account), and a half dozen Fark redesigns (but I still keep my account there), so I’ve become used to redesigns even though I might complain. As long as you do not increase the number of ads on M[C]S, I won’t actually care despite what sort of complaints I might leave. Just do what you think is right, Tiki, and the posters here will get over it because most of us do not have any sort of online community beyond Facebook, and the people that the other M[C]S posters associate with on Facebook are real people and thus there are repercussions to posting activity (like look at NK and Maggie, real life people would be extremely unhappy to find out they know trolls like NK and Maggie). Just do what you need to do since you are the owner of M[C]S and we will either get over it or leave.

My first domain that I ever registered was www.comiccovers.com. I can’t remember who I registered it through initially, but I do remember it cost me something like $40 to register and set up. Eventually I found GoDaddy, liked their $10 domain price, and started buying up domains like a bitter beast that could only be satiated by new and exciting urls.
GoDaddy’s prices were great, but the name is unprofessional sounding, their management system is a headache, and it’s hard to suggest them to clients when I know that the guy that owns the company is a complete douche nozzle. That being said though, I have nearly 50 domains with them, due to apathy on my own part, and the knowledge that the transfer process is painful. It doesn’t have to be so damn complicated and stressful, but they really don’t want to make it easy to leave at the drop of a hat, so I’ve stayed with them and let the auto renew process take care of everything.
The final straw though was GoDaddy’s recent back and forth on SOPA. Whether or not you believe that SOPA could mean an end to the internet as we know it, you MUST believe that SOPA is a big deal, one that would definitely shut down sites like MCS with a single complaint to the domain host by a single IP holder, with little or no legal recourse. The idea that SOPA is even being considered is offensive, and the fact that GoDaddy is supporting it is obscene.
Effective immediately, I’m transferring all my domains over to namecheap.com

Someone just asked me “hey tiki, why all the reposts lately?” to which I said, well I messed up. you see, I have a folder named “These definitely going up to mcs later when I’m sober and I find the time” and then I have a folder called “These were definitely uploaded to mcs” and I mess up and didn’t move some files, and then DID move them, but them uploaded a ton of other images, and oh god, I’m so sorry.

That’s because we don’t laugh for the rest of the year because our inner self is evil. (See World War I and II.)
3) Don’t confuse Fasching with Fascism. It’s disturbing for both side if you choose the wrong outfit: Hitler outfit at carnival or Clown outfit at the Nazi convention.

(No Ratings Yet) Loading ...Add to favoritesAs many of you have noted, the site that you are currently reading this message on is performing much better than it was a mere week ago. Sadly, in my drunken stupor, I updated some mysql tables that really were not meant to be overwritten.
What this means, is that the subdomains will not work until I restore the server to it’s default settings, which will wipe everything out, which is not an optimum situation, as your Tiki God will need to back up all the files and the required databases (this time remembering to leave out the “bad” table!) and moving them off to a secondary server while the restore is taking place.
Needless to say, this will take some considerable time and effort, so I’m going to wait until the weekend to move everything around to where it needs to be. Until then, NSFW and the ‘planned’ PLUS subdomain will be….absent.
lol, just kidding, NSFW is working now, have fun.

there’s an MCS store through cafepress now. I’m not really too happy with the prices / fees structure, they seem to be double dipping in a couple places, but they’re the biggest guys on the block in terms of customized merch.
Right now, there’s a couple different versions of the drunk tiki, and one of the theme day submissions.
Theme Day reminder: make stylized mcs logos suitable for bumper stickers or for laptop stickers… I’ll pick a winner and send them a few of the printed stickers for their troubles. (can’t do this through cafepress ) Then the rest of you can buy them for like $5 each.

I’m finding myself in some financial distress yet again, and was dreaming of ways getting rich quick, and someone in my heads said, hey tiki, and i was like, wtf are you doing in my head?
Anyways we talked it out and he suggested that i sell mcs stickers and or posters. What do you think of this idea? The posters would be the drunk tiki from drunk tiki… Its one of the posts on the last page over there, and the stickers would be smaller versions of that as well as a simple m(c)s stylized sticker… Hmmm perhaps some could make one for a contest or something….
Yeah thats the ticket, next theme day will be stylized logos suitable for bumper stickers or for laptop stickers… I’ll pick a winner and send them a few of the printed stickers for their troubles. Then the rest of you can buy them for like $5 each.
On a totally unrelated note i’ve redone the mcs+ page, it’s fucking awesome now.

But lately … I just feel you’ve lost your focus. The submissions here are all shit and boring, or just the same sort of thing over and over. Sometimes I like it (when it’s Korean women, mainly) but I’ve just come to the point where I no longer wish to visit your website daily. Lately, I’ve not even been sure to visit more than once in a week or even in a fortnight. You’ve got all these websites, but are any of them profitable? Would it make more sense to focus on your #1 and fuck the rest? (but don’t get rid of I-D, I like that one, even if I barely ever visit it).

Seriously, needing money and seeing a new website come alive every couple of months doesn’t make sense. I doubt they’re generating noticeable revenue. Why not use the content of other sites and implement it here, that way you’ll be more focused on what draws the masses (and hence the money)?

Make breakfast, get a little high. Start a painting, if I’m lucky I’ll be painting all day till I finish. Otherwise Ill just paint for a few hours, then go for a walk , get a little higher. Call a friend for a booty call.

Also, commenting has been re-enabled for the future posts, so those of you that are already MCS+ can now go in there and comment to your little heart’s desire.

it sucks that you have to pay $25 or more to get MCS+ when $1 dollar should be sufficient. just saying. i love this site. i like the images and everything else but come on .. $25+ ??? bullshit

Now that the thieves of the house have been evicted (seriously, if you rip me off of a few thousand dollars, expect to be kicked out of the house, and don’t even think about begging for money because you’ve run out of gas three days later…), I should be able to afford and even justify the $25 to the wife.

I’m pissed that when I asked that 3 someone’s friend me on xbox (tgiokdi) that I didn’t get a single response.
Oh, but when I offered g+ invites, sure, I got 30 people in an hour that wanted an account (and are now in my mcs circle).
fucking Halo ODST. do you has it? play it with me. or at the very least, friend me on xbox so I know that my gaming life hasn’t been wasted.

Was all the pony posting to troll us or does someone actually love ponies that much and is using this site as a file dump?
I didnt care when it came up once in a while but its gone to an extreme, a little diversity on this site was attractive and I didnt think it was wise of Tiki to try and drive his followers away when he had just lost his job.
In the end its Tiki’s site and he should do as he pleases, but the endless ponies pics and the fact that some adults are fans of them and the show is bordline (if not completely) creepy.
