contacted all the companies that were advertising on MCS and informed them of our distaste of both pop up and overlays.
Please let me know if you happen to see any. Including the url would be awesome. This last time it was a third party that was contracted with another party that was serving ads for my ad network, so it was really more like a fourth party, but whatever.

They should be gone now.

Edit: Ok, so I’ve been told there’s pop ups on MCS. This is bullshit, agreed?
There’s currently three networks showing on MCS:
- AdBrite
- YieldBuild
- ProjectWonderful
I’ll bet you nickels to dimes that it’s YB that’s causing them, but I’ve been wrong about this type of thing before. I know that PW does all their own hosting and doesn’t farm it out like the other two do, so I doubt it’s them doing anything nefarious. I’ll give free MCS+ to the first 5 people that give me screenshots of the pop ups with the only stipulation is that you have to be able to grab the URL in the image as well. Upload it to www.imageleech.net and post the link below.
Also, free MCS+ to any three people that can make a comment reply thread that counts to potato.

Did a test with IE, Opera, turned off (standalone) ad blocks, and shit – no pop-ups, but a crapton of ads (but from those companies you mentioned). Don’t know, maybe I got something else blocking shit.
Load time is somewhat longer than usual.
As for other things, it was done to death in other threads.

When I right click an image and try to use it through TinEye or GIS context menu, it says I’m searching some bullshit background image. If I copy the URL of the image after drilling down to it, it either still shows me searching the background image, or it just fails outright saying invalid URL or similar.

Did a test with IE, Opera, turned off (standalone) ad blocks, and shit – no pop-ups, but a crapton of ads (but from those companies you mentioned). Don’t know, maybe I got something else blocking shit.
Load time is somewhat longer than usual.

Why did the new layout going “live” break the old layout? Now, when you switch back to the old layout, the nice row of pictures at the top (that I assume are being looked at by someone else at that moment) are instead in a weird column down the right-hand side of the top section, with a ton of blank white space in the middle of the page.
I’m using Chrome at the moment, BTW.
Also, the comments in the new layout are much harder to read, and there isn’t enough visual cues to let you know who posted them. Perhaps a larger or different-colored font for the poster’s name? Why did the new layout going “live” break the old layout? Now, when you switch back to the old layout, the nice row of pictures at the top (that I assume are being looked at by someone else at that moment) are instead in a weird column down the right-hand side of the top section, with a ton of blank white space in the middle of the page.
I’m using Chrome at the moment, BTW.
Also, the comments in the new layout are much harder to read, and there isn’t enough visual cues to let you know who posted them. Perhaps a larger or different-colored font for the poster’s name? Actually, if all the comments were in a slightly larger font, that’d be kool. I’m testing out a new layout for the site, most of the functions are working awesomely, like the submissions page, and some of the functions are not working very well, like the forums.
You can switch between the two of them with those links, which you can also find in the sidebar.
Please let me know if you see anything broken. I was going to fix it all tonight, but my lovely GF just came home…

I’m happy to report that just a few moments ago, MCS hit 700 “likes” on the facebooks. If you haven’t “liked” MCS yes, please do so from this link right here, I would greatly appreciate it! I would really love to have over 1,000 likes so that I can throw it in the face of my previous employer, “Oh, you fired me? well I have over a thousand people that like me on my facebook, so fuck you buddy.”
Also, the increased likes may lead to increased traffic, which will lead to increased income, which will lead to me not being homeless in 3 weeks when my mortgage is due. So there’s that too.

You now have the ability to add any post to your own “favorite” list. You can find a link to your favorite posts right next to your gravatar in the sidebar. Unwashed masses will not be able to favorite things, sorry, you’ll need to log in. Everyone will be able to see the “top 10 favorited” posts in the sidebar though, I’m interested in seeing what shows up there.
Also, remember that MCS Live is fully functional, I see no reason to cache the output, it didn’t affect server performance at all.
Please remember to “Like” MCS on facebook if you have a moment.
Also, please feel free to visit imgderp, a domain that I setup specifically for those of us that enjoyed the insanity of random theme days and can handle seeing a pony or two.

I need some volunteers to help with a new image site, just upload a couple images to www.imgderp.com or add a youtube video, or even add a blog post of your own, I’m trying to stress test it to see what can be done. right now I can’t really figure out how to format the blog stuff on the front page, and I need content to figure it out.
right now the ‘most recent’ thing on the front page is acting wonky and I need your help to figure out why.
so please, just upload some derpy images on www.imgderp.com or make a derp blog.
