Ok, so I got home last night to find out that lightening had struck my house, killing both my computer’s mother board and my router. I’ve got both of them on order, but they won’t arrive at mi casa until next week. Unfortunately, MCS only has enough posts till the 19th.
All 900-15,000 images I had saved up were on my computer 
 I think I need to get myself one of those huge flash drives. But then I would forget to unplug it, and it would get fried too.
So please, upload some quality imagery, and we’ll keep the site live for another week or two till I can get to my hard drives and make sure everything’s ok on them!

200k hits over the span of a day. Thank you coffee art and internet warning labels. As it’s friday, and I had to stay up till fucking 3 AM last night putting out the fires that the server was causing, I bought myself a case of the worlds finest. As many of you might have noticed, the site has been a little flaky in the last 24 hours. This is due to Digg / Reddit and every website that leeches their content. Apparently two different posts were bouncing between the two, and it’s killing the SQL server I’m on. I’ve had to change the theme to a less sql / image heavy one, but fear not, the features that you knew and loved will be returning. Maybe.

Fuck! that’s a whole lot of working to be done. Back when I got serious about MCS, I was thinking that MCS could be a reverse fark. Cause, you see at fark, they make text posts, and then users post images in the comments section, but here at MCS, we post images, and have text in the comments section. But three million posts?
Only 2,995,103 image posts to go!

Had to disable hotlinking, cause we were using about 20 gigs of bandwidth a day. Also, the site was going MIA for hours on end, hopefully this will fix the problems!

Just got an e-mail from google, saying that they removed one of my sites from their adsense program due to policy violations. I had a minor heart attack, and thought “oh shit, MCS just got kicked out, how am I going to pay the $500 hosting bill?!”
Luckily they just kicked out www.dirtylimerick.com because of the ‘adult or mature content’, which I guess I should have seen coming. So, now it’s exclusively Project Wonderful only for the time being…so if you have the desire to advertise on the site, head on over, there’s free spots still open, and even the ones that have bids are only at 1 or 2 cents. That site doesn’t get nearly enough traffic. I may start advertising it on PW or Fark or somewhere to give it the traffic it deserves.
Also, does anyone know what the hell’s happened to Dirty Microbe? it’s as if they’ve fallen off the face of the planet. They aren’t returning any of my e-mails, and people are reporting ordered merchandise isn’t being shipped….

To make sure that the site doesn’t go ‘dry’ (get it? heh) I set some posts up to be automagically posted on the site. Fortunately for logged in MCS members, you can get random access to them via the ‘random posts’ section in the sidebar. Have fun with that knowledge.

New Site Features!

Ok, I’ve added in a thing next to the post Author’s Name showing how many posts a person’s made. Admins will show as ‘admin‘. Makes sense right? You get a special title at 25, 50, 100, 150, and 200 posts. So far, i don’t think anyone’s made it to 25. I’m having trouble finding a way to show the top 20 authors, but it’s something that I would like to have on the site.
Also, at the bottom of every post there’s a “share this” link. It’s for e-mailing, digging, redditing, and various other methods of sharing the post. This is on each RSS post too, so feel free to open it to a new tab and digg it or send posts to friends. None of the e-mails involved are being saved, so you don’t have to worry about them being spammed or anything stupid crazy like that.

Dedicated Server Problems

Those of you that were trying to access the site over the weekend might have noticed that there were a few minor problems. mainly that the entire site was unaccessible, and even when you did connect it was slow as fuck. This was a dedicated server from WestHost. After three days of their incompetent tech support bumbling about, I figured that enough was enough and moved everything back to hurricane electric.
So here we are, back where we started, but at least you can get to the site, right?

Jesus and Satan have an argument as to who is the better programmer. This goes on for a few hours until they agree to hold a contest with God as the judge.
They set themselves before their computers and begin. They type furiously for several lines of code streaming up the screen. Seconds before the end of the competition, a bolt of lightning strikes, taking out the electricity.
Moments later, the power is restored, and God announces that the contest is over. He asks Satan to show what he had come up with. Satan is visibly upset, and cries, “I have nothing! I lost it all when the power went out.”
“Very well, then.” said God, “Let us see it Jesus fared any better.”
Jesus entered a command, and the screen came to life in vivid display, the voices of an angelic choir poured forth from the speakers.
Satan was astonished and stuttered, “But how? I lost everything, yet Jesus’ program is intact! How did he do it?”
God chuckled and replied, “Jesus saves.”

Unless you had a raid 5 array , I would be happy to freely offer to do some low level data recovery if needed. Can handle just about anything , unless they were on fire. Hope they are just fine though.

I’ve got a couple in the cue but two of them keep getting declined dispite my best efforts to adhear to the guidelines.
When you decline a post I’d really like to know what I did wrong so I don’t keep making the same mistake. You can decline it and type in what’s wrong and then I’ll delete your notes and fix it.
