   I just went to watch STS-122 on Thursday. We traveled from Virginia Beach. I am from Florida, so I have seen tons of them. I took my son to make sure we could see one before they cancel the program.

   Anyone know why it rolls onto its back when launching? It would seem like the wings would be pulling it down when it is upside-down…

   I also read somewhere that the Shuttles motors were the most powerful since the Saturn-V… anyone know if that’s true?

   I saw the movie before I read the book, but personally I was very, very happy with the execution of the movie… I think they got it spot on with Edward Norton’s ‘say-it-like-it-is-i’m-too-cool-for-you’ narration and the witty throws and comebacks from everyone… yeah the ending was different in the book but I liked the movies one better… welcome the world of Fallout, or maybe more like escape from LA… hehe

   + i really got into the pixies because of the last scene- to -’credits’ song – where is my mind?

   There’s no mention of food on the Falcon, but when Luke crash lands on Dagobah to meet Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back, he pulls out what looks like an emergency ration kit and takes a few bites. I’m sure the Falcon has similar stores for emergencies, and there almost appears to be a stove and oven in the far right corner of section 11.

    Food could be stored anywhere, in any hold. But food and “non-flying the ship time” was prolly in the Main Hold, #7. That looks like the main domestic space with a chair and stool, a cabinet of some sort in the top left corner, and a semi-circle booth around a table for meals and such in the top right.

   Actually, the reason I’m inspired to comment: Despite the host’s protestations to the contrary in the FAQ (“9/10 of the time I can give credit to where it’s due, and even hopefully help the original owner turn a profit on their merchadise”; see also the references to “free press”), I have to say that I almost never see credit given to the original artist, or even a hat tip to the web site where a given piece was found.

   Links are still free, and it only seems fair, so: I’m respectfully requesting that the proprietor make good on the promises in the FAQ and actually give credit where it’s due.

I’d guess www.starwars.com As for giving credit where it’s due, that is still the case, it’s just that there’s usually no way to figure out where any one image comes from. Usually the source, if known to anyone, is mentioned in the comments. If you want know what website the image was found on, your guess is as good as mine. Could have been 4chan. Or maybe space_ghetto, or possibly the LJ livefeed.

They were laying new power cables which were strung on the ground for miles. The moose are rutting right now and very agitated. He was thrashing around and got his antlers stuck in the cables. When the men (miles away) began pulling the lines up with their big equipment, the moose went up with them. They noticed excess tension in the lines and went searching for the problem. He was still alive when they lowered him to the ground. He was a huge 60 inch bull and slightly peeved!

   I remember reading about this a while back (couple years ago I think). The moose had to be killed after it was taken down.

   Basically, if they had tranq’ed it, the thing probably would have died anyway, only then the meat would have been unusable. So they shot it and donated the meat to the local shelter.
