I can’t state this enough. This is a huge piece of furniture. The girl in the picture up there? She’s got to be at least 5’10”. I’m 6’6″, and on the long side, this bean bag nearly comes up to my head, which is damn near insane. It barely fits down a hall way and will take up every inch it can, and since it’s a bag filled with high quality beans and poly fill, it spreads out a fair bit. All that being said, here’s a picture of it immediately after I removed it from it’s packing box a couple weeks ago with a cat to scale:
And here’s a picture of the same item with my wife inside of the covering:
I can’t imagine they’re doing the packing by hand, they must have something like a box compressor doing this with the strapping mechanism built into it. Taking it completely out of the packaging was pretty easy, breaking apart the pieces that were stuck together was less easy, but not impossible. The instruction sheets with it claimed that it would self expand up to 90% of it’s final size within 24 hours and be full sized within several days, which has proven to be absolutely true.
So how does it shape up as a bean bag? Pretty damn well. I’ve played several hours of the Master Chief Collection on it and due to the sheer size of it, it’s acting more like a malleable chair than a standard bean bag, and once you get it into a comfortable position it holds itself pretty well. From the time we opened it until today though, we had planned on painting the living room, so I had to put it into my incredibly small office that I have at the house, so here’s a picture of it trying to live in there. There’s no way that I’m going to be able to keep it there, so I’m clearing some space from the living room now that we have it painted and all pretty and shit. Then I’m likely going to go back to playing video games on it, because it’s damn comfortable.
Two small minor quibbles about it though: The Price and The Smell. This is a premium product that’s currently being sold for $429. Sticker shock is to be expected, which is well justified, but spending a bit of time with it warrants that price point. After all, this isn’t just a bean bag, but a significant piece of furniture that two average sized people can comfortably spend a significant amount of time on, so the price isn’t something I would count as a true negative, just something to be prepared for. The Smell though: it’s significant. After two weeks of living in my living room and my office it still gives off a fair bit of an industrial poly-smell that I’m nearly certain will go away completely eventually, but having it in my small office really amplified the effect. There’s ventilation in there, but it’s not enough for what’s coming off it at the moment.
In the end though, neither the price nor the smell would be something I would feel overcomes the enormity of it’s utility as a addition to a room that has the space for it.Site News on August 3rd, 2015 by tiki god | Report This Post | Add to favorites

I realize it’s in the middle of the summer and half of you are too busy getting drunk and getting fucked, but grab some funny pictures or something and post them to MCS! There’s currently three different ways to submit content, and it’s totally confusing to read, but easy to understand:
- Main Site wordpress editor (mcs+ users only!)
- Main Site submission engine (everyone!)
MCS+ wordpress editor (everyone sorta!) don’t use this, it’s not cross posting yet
I’m still testing the Plus.Myconfinedspace.com stuff, there’s a fair bit of shitty code that everyone can see still, but everyone should be able to create posts and images there. Right now it’s a quasi crossposter, in that it’ll cross post a single image and none of the post’s actually content, so that’s shitty.Images on August 2nd, 2015 by tiki god | Report This Post | Add to favorites

I’ve had this Mitsubishi WD-65735 65-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV for several years (six? I think six, yes) and it’s always been a little janky, with some overscan issues and taking several seconds to change from input to input or channel to channel. It’s always been just good enough to not replace, always been a great TV, so the minor issues that it’s had haven’t really weighted on me. That being said, it was time to replace my $75 wal-mart sorta surround sound system with something that was actually dolby certified and could handle all the latest gizmos and formats that are floating around my living room (usb music, banana connectors, HMDI 4k, 3d, etc etc) I eventually settled on a Sony STR-DH740 7.2 Channel 4K AV Receiver:
This is a very very good receiver. It pushes the speakers I had previously with gusto and the hook up was as simple as plugging in the newly installed banana clip speaker wires and powering it all up. Excellent purchase and I was very happy with the results. For a while. I had it set up for about a week, and started to notice that after it was turned off it would make random clicking noises, the same exact type of noise it makes when it turns on or off, nothing too loud or exciting, but enough to wake you up if you’re trying to nap off a hangover on the couch. Around this time though, the wife and I started painting the living room from a nasty renters beige to a nice home-owners green, so it was moved to the middle of the room and leave it unplugged for a while. After we moved everything back to where it was going to live and we were sitting around the clicking was getting on my nerves, so I figured I’d go all out and try to figure out what the issues was.
A brief amount of google-fu led me no where, other than people talking about blown capacitors or fuses, and I was pretty sure that there wasn’t anything actually broken on it as it was performing very well. Remember I mentioned that my TV had some issues? Apparently it has something known as “HDMI CEC“, which allows the TV to control HDMI devices and HDMI devices to control the TV. Apparently some manufacturers didn’t use the industry spec though and the interaction between my Mitsubishi TV and my Sony Receiver was causing the receiver to turn on, then immediately turn back off every 30-90 seconds. The kicker was that turning this off on just the TV wasn’t enough, I had to turn it off on the receiver as well, and now my living room is click free.Images on August 1st, 2015 by tiki god | Report This Post | Add to favorites
