Yes I believe that this is a green iguana. If he doesn't get eaten, he should probably stick around. I'd guess a female (for the lack of larger spines) but it's difficult to tell when they are young. They are territorial and usually stay in a general area. I would worry more about a cat getting him/her until he/she gets bigger. Then he/she can whip a cat with it's tail. My brother had one named henry that was over 7 feet long. Very docile. I would not own a female though as they tend to be more aggressive.
