Have you ever understood someone's "obsession" (or casual interest for that matter) of any particular thing? Dragons? Sports teams? Cats? Superheroes? Vampires? Guns? Psychologically, does it matter what the object is? People like things. Some people like things a lot. What else is there to understand? Why one thing opposed to another thing? Just a matter of taste.

What about this? : A movie comes out, it looks dull, some formula comedy, I would never pay $15 to see in the theater, and wouldn't care if I never saw it. It comes out later on disc, I could rent it, for $7 [Now I haven't paid (whoever it is I am apparently stealing from) $8 by not seeing it at the cinema], but I am still not interested enough to even pay that. I can't even remember the last time I actually rented a movie tho. I comes out a bit later on Netflix kind of for free (i don't know how that works as far as people getting paid). But maybe I don't want to go downstairs where the Netflix is hooked up, and I'm too lazy to set up my computer up here with it, so I just download it up here and watch it. Netflix still getting my monthly fee, and I am watching the same movie. Am I still a thief? They never would've gotten money from me in the first place. So what difference if I downloaded it a couple weeks earlier? A good movie always does good in the box office. A good movie, that I want to see, I go and pay $15 to see. When I pay $15 and the movie sucks, I feel I am the one who was stolen from. Both time and money. Piracy doesn't steal from these people, their bank accounts aren't being hacked. They just aren't being given as much.

When have you ever heard of a movie performing poorly in the box office due to piracy? Movies only do poorly in the box office when they suck. The only people I know that lose out from piracy [movies only] are the theater owners, specifically where they aren't franchises.

    RSIxidor is technically correct, this is indeed a water lily, but it is the Egyptian water lily commonly known and called a Blue Lotus, which has very pleasant and enjoyable, mild euphoric effects.

I grew up on their music. I went to my first show with my mom and my sister and my brother when I was 6. (Mother\’s Milk) I love them so much. I wish I had been around to see and enjoy their earliest stuff live as well, with Hillel Slovak. (But thank Mercury for YouTube) I\’ve seen them play fourteen times now. I\’ve hugged and kissed Anthony and Flea.

Their music is the soundtrack for my life. Especially in the bedroom.

    Fight Club is an amazing book, but Palahniuk is a hack. Every book he’s ever written is just a variation on self-improvement through destruction. Choke, Invisible Monsters, Survivor, Lullaby, Fight Club…they all use the same repetition device and writing style.

    It was really depressing – the more of his books I read, the more I realized I’d already read them.

   You are correct, the nighthawk was shot down. But it was not seen until after they found the wreckage. When you let your enemy know the exact time, place and route of your attack the invisibility thing becomes much less helpfull.

   It makes no difference now though since the F-117 program was eliminated due to budget cuts anyway.

   @BobTheHun: Mostly due to its limited use. You have a “fighter” aircraft that holds a very tiny ordinance. The B2 does it so much better. As will the F-22.

   It was a very awesome step into the future tho.

   @vincent.ex2: If you think amount of shit the Serbs had to go through to shoot down that Nighthawk, they fucking earned it. It also still speaks highly of its evasiveness.

The F-18 Hornet. I dunno if any of these are technically Super Hornets, but they are wicked sweet all the same. This is my favorite fighter jet of all. I have six models of them. My favorite one is painted purple with lime green tiger stripes. I eat a lot of mushrooms.

   Photos 3 and 5 are definately Super Hornets, they are visually unique due to the squared off intakes… Original Hornets have the rounded intakes.

    I work in the US Navy as an Aviation Electrian. My command trains pilots to fly the EA-6B Prowler and the new EA-18G Growler. The EA-18G is the newest Hornet varient and is intended to relace the Prowler. The second image is a Growler. It bears my commands marking on it’s Vertical Stabilizers. The easiest way to tell is the Jamming Pods under it’s wings. They have little propelers on the tips.

\’bout ten years ago I stole a model plane from my brother, because he wouldn\’t let me help him make a model of an F-15 he was working on, so while he was busy I swiped an F-16 kit from his pile and made/painted it, and fell in love with fighter jets, a dreamy one sided romance that continues to this day. He wasn\’t too happy. I painted it pink.

   The Navy turned the Falcon down for two reasons: 1 – They weren’t strong enough to survive repeated traps on a carrier. 2 – They foresaw the wire chafing issue the Air Force was later sued over. It seemed obvious to Naval engineers that rubbing wires across a sharp edge would lead to failure. Go figure.

   In the early ’90s, GI joe/mattel- released a toy/water gun that was this plane before it was ever invented… Had a cockpit that would open to change gi joe pilots.. Orange handle held water that squirted out the nose. Was one of my fav toys as a kid.. Then they made a life size. sounds like our Gov. is taking ideas from kids cartoons?

   Awesome planes, but really more tech than we need, and they cost way too much. I live about two miles from one of the bases that could be a training center for the F-35, which would be pretty nice for the local (fucked-up) economy.

    I’m also curious as to what about all the other countries that bought these planes for future dates. I know Canada bought I think 10 of them, for 2014. Do they just get a refund now?

The f-22 needs to remain relevant.
