my boyfriends best friend has a permit and a bunch of guns...took us to a shooting range and showed us about gun safety and how to shoot and what not... got to shoot a .22, a 50cal, and a really big one we rented (dont ask me i dont remember what it was)... i almost got knocked on my ass from the big one and since i was wearing a v neck shirt, a casing from the .50 landed on my chest and another on my neck, but it was cool and i look at guns differently now. That is my only personal experience with guns :)

    Would like to make a similar Tiki cake. Looks a lot cooler than typical frosting…is this fondant? Any suggestions on replicating welcome. I plan to make a standing Tiki totem pole cake using 8 Wilton 6″ round cake pans. Will hope the totem pole will not topple if I use drinking straws or thin bamboo skewers to secure layers as I stack them. Where can I buy (or how do I make) the fondant, if that is what is used here.

Falkirk Wheel

The Falkirk Wheel, named after the nearby town of Falkirk in central Scotland, is a rotating boat lift connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal, which at this point differ by 35 metres in height.

It consists of two diametrically opposed caissons which always weigh the same whether or not they are carrying their capacity of 600 tonnes of floating canal barges. According to Archimedes’ principle floating objects displace their own weight in water. This keeps the wheel balanced and so, despite its enormous mass, it rotates through 180° in less than four minutes while using very little power.

He says, “The reasoning behind the beinhaus was that there was not enough real estate to bury the town’s dead in so they would bury the bodies in the cemetery for a decade or so then dig them up. They would then take the bones and the skulls and place them in this chapel. The skulls would be painted on by local artists with flowers representing different meanings.    I can’t believe that you went to school in Hallstatt. You would still be locked in some old Austrian guys cellar if that was true.

   I have driven through this region many times, but never stopped in this village. The region is beautiful. And the Austrians are always fun to have a drink with.

   Haha why? Hallstatt is well known for its schools. When you enter from the tunnel in the east, the school is right in front of you, a yellowish building.
   The cellar thing, do you mean that because it’s such a small town? I happen to live only half an hour far away from the place where the first guy kept the girl in his cellar. And only one hour far away from the second 24 year incident. Both happened in fairly big cities.

   I had to leave Hallstatt because the mountains and lack of sun were killing me. But it’s true, breathtakingly beautiful. Next time you go there, you need to stop, and go downtown by foot, and see the most amazing little houses you could imagine.

   As for the other thing… here are some English / German terms that I find useful.
   Lagering (English): the storing your beer for up to 1 year.
   Lagerung (Austrian): the storing a woman in the cellar for up to 24 years. Also known as an Austrian Honeymoon.

she was a good cat for the most part but unfortunately, we had to give her away when she started attacking my daughter while she was learning to crawl.. she scratched my daughter up pretty bad, but now Katie has a new home

   I had a cat that loved to get as high as he could (height, not high) and jump on your shoulders as you walked by; considering that he had extra toes, which = extra claws, it could hurt.

   One of my cats will climb me if I bend down at all. Thankfully I keep their claws cut which tends to make it less painful for me when I make him fall off.

   she used to get in these totally wild moods and she absolutely destroyed a small dividing wall in our house by running at it as fast as she could and jumping up and grabbing it and clawing it all the way down.. she could jump and catch the wall at least 5 feet high.. we tried to help her attitude by getting her fixed but she then went totally feral and attacked everyone (including our daughter even worse) so we gave her to the human society
