Ye, but I have that problem w/ a lot of vehicles. I’m short. In order to reach the peddles comfortably I have to set seat as forward as possible. In some cars that puts the steering wheel right into my boobs and sometimes my chin.

I agree with you, nyoki. I once rented a neon and I consider it the most horrific vehicle I have ever driven. My back hurt within fifteen minutes and the rear view mirror was too small to see the entire back window. Talk about blind spots!

Why would pulling the better motor and putting in some 4 cylinder piece of shit give it better acceleration in your mind? You have no idea how cars work do you?

Do you know anything about gears and gear ratios? Shit, you could even modify the gears and auto shifter on an automatic.
It’s simple: Just make the cars top speed about 70MPH. You lose top speed but gain acceleration. Of coarse, if your going to race it, this is pointless. But if you want to save gas like me it’s a very good idea.

Like the name says it is a lake that fills in the crater of a dormant volcano. I have been here a few times as I live in Oregon. My sister got married on the island. It is 2nd deepest lake in North America. No rivers flow in or out of it. All the water comes from rain or snow melt. And the place is freakin gorgeous.

Oh, the island is named Wizard Island and the crater is named The Witch’s Cauldron.

@whoever took these photos: download a program called Photoshop Elements and read or watch a tutorial on photo-merging. you can control exposures yourself or you can let the program automate exposures to even out the light levels (i.e. no lines and discoloration in panoramas). it’s a great program from beginners to experts, lotsa time wasted with that one.

its been a few years since i was last there, but it really is a beautiful place. its actually a caldera (i think i spelled that right), which means the volcano that erupted blew itself up so hard that it created a gigantic hole. kinda like mt. st. helens, but that one only blew 1/3 of the mountain off.
my family and i didnt get to go onto the island, and i dont remember why. but if you ever get the chance to go, its cool.
on a marginally related note, where do you live MrElzebub? i live in oregon too. sorta. im in college in florida but my home is in central oregon.

Crater Lake is cool, but like the Golden Gate Bridge or the Statue of Liberty, you kind of take it for granted that it’s there. Growing up in southern Oregon, I can’t say I’ve visited it more than twice.

I’m sure no one will believe me, so I don’t know why even I’m posting this, but:
I had me some cosmic relations there.
It was almost exactly a year ago. I was visiting a friend who goes to forestry school at UofO. We went hiking with the Sierra club (which is one of the few nerdy I do well). After switch-backing a bit, she told me her nick-name was Crater and paused, like I should be impressed, and she said, “you know, from an asteroidâ€. And was I was like, “Yeah, I’m from Seattle.†and she laughed. So ended up going behind the trees, drank some wine, then I back filled that crater, and well…
Anyway, I didn’t realize where I was until I got home and tried to look-up her latitude & longitude on-line.
I think I’ve still got some picture on my old cell phone. I’ll check when I get home.

i’ve ridden my motorcycle there twice. it’s beautiful. one of the bluest blues ever. film really doesn’t do it justice.
hint to anybody going- circle it clockwise. better view, easier parking.

i know that they have boat tours that take you to the island. and there is also a tree that has been floating around in the lake forever- about three feet sticks up out of the water.
btw- they say Mt St Helens caldera is so active, it will be at original it’s height in 20-25 years.

There was a kid in my school called Bimbo.

My parents used to live in Spain and, if memory serves, ‘Bimbo’ was the brand name of a particularly noisome make of white bread there…
