@copypaiste: I don’t know exactly what you need, but I know some poor-ass people that brew their own, so it can’t be too expensive. I would guess somewhere around $500, though that may be only if you can find some of the brewing items second-hand.

The kits are really cheap, and if you already d rink, just save the bottles. all in al you shouldn’t spend more than 50 to 100 bucks for a kit and ingredients. The interweb and local stores have kits. Local co ops are also great places to get brewing supplies.

I have yet to make beer as I don’t like having to do the second fermentation to make it all fizzy.

I have however brewed mead. Cheap, easy, and a lot stronger than beer. taste better too.

1 gallon water
1 quart honey
Some lemons, sliced
a few cloves
a cinnamon stick or two
1/2 cup ganulated sugar

Boil together for 10-25 minutes.

Let cool covered in an ice bath for 10-15 minuts or until liquid is war, but not too hot. remove solid bits.
Pour into large food grade plastic container (I use a 2-3 gallon water jug.)
Add 1 packet brewers yeast (preferably for wine to make it stronger)
Put on lid with a fermentation lock. Or a rubber stopper with a fermentation lock.

wait 2-6 months.

Siphon off liquid after yeast are dead and on bottom of container. Strain through coffee filters into another clean container. Bottle. Chill. Drink.

@nyokki: We just got a BevMo here. Perhaps they have it. BevMo has to be heaven for alcoholics. It’s like the ultimate liquor store. They have everything for your party needs in mass quantity.

My friend owned a liquor store (sold it a little over a year ago)and gave me carte blanche on ordering beer because she doesn’t drink it. So, I’d get the distributors to give me samples that I handed out amongst the beer lovers that I know. We’d do beer tasting parties. I miss doing that. I think I’ll call ‘em all up and do one, even if we have to actually pay for the beer. ;<) We’re still pushing to get WV to allow beer that’s more than 6.0.

If you want some real good microbrews, come to Oregon. Most of this stuff isn’t even sold outside the state. There’s some real good microbrew called Lost Coast in Eureka, CA though. I highly recommend the Downtown Brown.
