Congo Soldiers: Rambo Style!

If you’ve read the Congo Diaries of Che Guevara, you realize soldiers haven’t really changed. If they managed to discourage the revolutionary leader, they still manage to annoy most Congolese.

I’ve met good and bad soldiers in DR Congo. I’ve drank beer with some, shared thoughts with others, I even spent new year’s eve with better ones. I can both admire and despise the men in uniform.

A soldier in Congo is basically anyone who has fatigues and a gun. Like anyone with a camera can claim to be a photographer.

So there, you have a gun, you’re a soldier. Your boss (who drives a nice 4×4) takes a cut of your salary. That is, if you get a salary. In better days, you get twenty bucks a month.

They give you no food. You’re hungry, so you go see farmers and others. You’re gun is a good argument for them to share the little they have.

In fact, the gun is the reason you enrolled. It gives you power you otherwise could never get. So you develop the attitude of importance. Everyone else is shit and thank God you’re not doing all the physical labor other people do.

Your routine is to keep guard of a road, a building or important people. The army is for hire: if you need security, you can call on them. But much of the task is boring.

Then there’s trouble. You hear a few bullets, and you make a run for your life. It’s not worth 20 bucks to stick around. Tomorrow is another day, and you wanna be there to see it!

Everyone ran away like you. Chaos reigns. The bullets are far away now. There’s no more authority. Pillage time. Rape if you can. This is your chance, make the best of it.

   Well, the “3+” in the bottom corner should give you an idea of the target audience. Young kids are still fascinated by construction equipment and such, and it’s a fun thing to give them a chance to pretend they’re driving it.

   Plus, hey, if it’s accurate, maybe the forklift sim can be used to teach the damn lumpers how to unload my trailer in a decent amount of time. “Lesson 1: Remove thumb from goddamned ass”…

       Seen or played? Because it’s the feel of the game that makes it shine, the constant jokes and overall experience of being there with 4 grown ups that chase ghosts for a living.

       It was a tad too easy but it was certainly a thousand times better than the Arcade and NES Ghostbuster titles.

           Which version? If it’s the PS2/Wii version, yes that one stinks on ice. The PC/PS3/Xbox 360 one rocks. Absolutely NAILED the busting mechanics.

           Of course, seeing a game being played isn’t anywhere NEAR as much fun as playing it yourself. Especially if you play more than the first mission. Judge not until you’ve held the controller in your own hands for a good four hours (half the game).

           The same old jokes only get old if you SUCK AT THE GAME AND KEEP DYING, thus requiring one to sit through the jokes again. In later missions, there are NEW jokes! Imagine that! Not to mention equipment upgrades. And an overall plot that comes together with an awesome final battle. And the return of Walter Peck. Yes, he’s still a dickless asshole.

           //can tear through Professional difficulty without too much trouble

   that seriously looks delicious… in a moist, chewy, but not TOO chewy kind of way. I just fear the bones would get in the way, but being that young, I’m sure my manly mandibles can crunch right through them. But, I find the like of condiments…disturbing. I also hate that the bread is all cracked from being handled to roughly. Food should be made with tender love and care. Especially when the ingredients call for ‘live puppy’.

   I always feel awkward when I’m talking to people who have a grown dachshund, like I want to pet it but he doesn’t seem to be interested like other dogs. Then I’m afraid if I don’t at least attempt to pet him the owner will think I have a problem with his dog but I can’t decide if it’s worth it to get rejected by a dog just so that the owner is satisfied.

   Depending on where the image was first posted (likely at scifi-meshes.com), the “this is mine!” stuff is compulsory. I generally prefer that these renders are signed in a more tasteful manner.
