The Shape of Water review

81kpUX2WqZL. SL1500 768x1024 The Shape of Water

From master storyteller Guillermo del Toro comes an otherworldly fairy tale set in 1960s America where a woman’s life is changed forever after she discovers a secret experiment.

…I did not expect the gratuitous sex scenes. I love Guillermo del Toro (and by extension Doug Jones) but man this was a weird one. I ultimately enjoyed it, but ….weird, man.

    It was cool visually.
But really slow…and a bit too obvious. It felt like being hit over the head with very unsubtle symbolism every time the camera angle changed.
It was OK, but not nearly as good as I expected it to be.

That’s Guillermo del Toro for you though, he’s not subtle, but his movies are gorgeous.
