Star Trek Beyond review

81FywQq5wCL. SL1500 825x1024 Star Trek Beyond

The U.S.S. Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

Honestly have no idea how I forgot to do a review on this movie, perhaps I was too excited about how I felt about it? This was the best of the three Alternate Reality movies, and I have to believe that if Shatner were in his 30’s and making Star Trek films in 2016, this would be the type of movie he would excel in. There’s things to complain about and nit pick over, but I really loved this movie and can earnestly recommend that you see it in theaters.

I would agree. I watched it twice. This is by far the best of the three. The other two had really poor stories and failed very bad at basic logic. This one was full throttle thrill ride. It’s not like the old movies for sure but it was a good time.

The villain felt a little weaker on his motives when watching it the second time but the film still held up unlike the first two movies. The movie is pretty strait forward and there isn’t a ton of stuff hidden. There are nods to trek but I didn’t notice anything big.

Finally going to see it next week. I’ve watched a hella amount of star trek in my days. I think this reboot is really well done and am super hyped to see this one.

You would think the federation would be more prepared for potential threats, given past experience and lots of “hmmm…” moments. I get the “planetary interference / transporter won’t work here” trope on the planet, but not on a space station where they have already shown people using the transporter like a bus and also to aggressivly board a fast moving tiny ship. Last 15 minutes pretended that tech wasn’t still around.
But I think they really captured what was great about star trek in this rebooted franchise and most importantly really enjoyed this (so the challenges don’t matter). Also a nice hat tip to George Takei / family man.
