    Not really sure why you still keep calling it the “justice” system…

    and how about the fact that she convinced another girl of the “delusion” aka excuse and to go along with killing another girl? justice is for the victim , not the criminal.

    what ill? from what I’ve read they haven’t showed any remorse and only started shouting mental illness after capture.

    If they are faking it…then let a panel of qualified psychiatrists examine them and decide that.

    And I’m not suggesting that they should get away with it.
    I’m suggesting they need treatment…appropriate treatment for violent schizophrenic juveniles.

    That may include locking them up if they continue to be a danger to others.

    Trying them as juveniles doesn’t change any of this.

    I have a problem with “qualified psychiatrists” and psychiatry in general.

    From what I have seen in the news, any time somebody gets arrested in the US or UK, the first thing they do is find a “qualified psychiatrists” to give them an “official excuse”.

    Killed somebody? Schizophrenic. Hacker? Aspergers. Drink / smoke / shoot-up too much? Addictive disorder.

    Psychiatry is a scam and is definitely not science.

    Like every other medical field, psychiatry isn’t perfect.
    But it is the only peer reviewed, scientifically studied, continually tested and updated field of dealing with mental illness.

    You are basically saying you don’t believe in science ack.

    How does one argue with someone who doesn’t believe in science…?

    As for getting out at 18…not if they are dangerously mentally ill.
    In that case they can be kept until they are deemed no longer a threat.

    If we have to keep trying the truly violent juveniles as adults, does that mean the juvenile justice system somehow doesn’t work? Maybe fixing that is what we should be working on.

    Or, conversely, is it all for show? Some statement like, “in this case, we’re taking justice seriously!” Well then why aren’t we doing so the rest of the time?
