      • My comment was to the title. “Breaking the back of Christianity”. Why would anyone want to crush somebody else’s belief system? But if that’s the game then why not start with something that requires courage like going after islam?
I hadn’t watched the video until now. I thought it would be as per the still image, just another paean to doubling divorce court fodder. ~20 seconds worth of the video proved excessive. The guy IS an idiot. A true Southern Democrat. Not sure how the title and the video are related.

        • Southern Democrat.

Sure, he may have been called a Southern Democrat if this was 150 years ago.
          But it isn’t.
In this world my guess is that he holds his nose and votes for the Repubs, even though they’re likely way too pink for him….

          • You Do have a certain style. Who could argue that this is not 150 years ago? Very profound. Of course, as is consistent the rest is bullshit.
So that would be 1865? Roughly when Lincoln the Republican sent all those Yankee Republican carpetbaggers south to reconstruct? Resulting in the founding and the rise of the opposing Klan? Which consisted of opposing Southern Democrats. A year later in 1866 the Klan apparently stopped and disbanded or en masse registered as Republicans. Are you absolutely sure about that?

          • Woodrow Wilson was a big fan of the Klan. He was active in keeping blacks out of the WW1 army and before that out of Princeton. So to recap a Southerner and a Democrat and President until 1921. Now we’re down to 94 years ago.

          • LBJ was a southerner and a democrat and President until 1969. He said “I’ll have those ennwurds voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” Hmm. Might he not get along rather well with the guy in the video? Well that was 46 years ago.
Robert Byrd was a Klan member and a Southerner and a Democrat and President Pro Tempore of the Senate until 2010. Now we’re down to 5 years ago. TBC the best sheets in his house were on hangers!
Then there are the various acts and amendments in support of Civil Rights since “150 years ago”. All but one brought in by Republicans. And the one that wasn’t had more Republicans voting for it than Democrats. Let me quote a “gift that keeps on giving” (Southern Democrat LBJ) “These Nfolks, they’re getting pretty uppity these days, and that’s a problem for us, since they’ve got something now they never had before: the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this … we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.”

But you would have us believe that buddy in the video is likely voting for Civil Rights? (Republican) HF!!!

            • You have a certain style yourself friend.
              Its called missing the point.

Currently the primary force against progressive social momentum is the Republican party.
Now…historically there have been regressive movement in both parties…and thanks for the history lesson…but then is not now.

My comment was only to point out that it is much more likely to find beliefs like his on the right end of the political spectrum.

          • I missed the point? You started the history lesson with “150 years ago”. When it doesn’t go your way we’re not going to do that anymore?
I provided examples of where one is “more likely to find beliefs like his”. Your rebuttal is a somewhat sparsely detailed …”nope”?
Logic, reason and critical thinking continue to not be your friends. And neither am I.

            • My rebuttal to what exactly?
I pointed out that his views more closely match current Republican dogma than Democratic.
Your historic reference to “Southern Democrats” may be valid…but it doesn’t describe the current political or social landscape.
And certainly doesn’t describe this man’s political allegiances.

Your rebuttal failed to address this very point.
              Hench “missed the point”.

              The irony abounds….
