    As for the bit in Ezra, read it yourself. It’s quite clear the author did not add the aforementioned numbers. The final calculation was of “all” vessels.

    And so it goes with most critiques of the Bible. Platitudinous complaints are thrown out that some people accept at face value, when any sort of thoughtful approach resolves them handily. If you’re eager to accept that the Bible is a heap of desert scribblings, you’ll devour any alleged incoherence. If you’re already convinced the God of the Bible is evil, you won’t even try to ponder the difficult passages in Scripture with reason and humility and find the truths therein.

    There are two ways to read that passage from first Kings: as inept documentation by a layman, or as the perfect word of an omnipotent being. I keep being told by Christians that the Bible is the latter.

    You don’t need to presuppose the Bible is perfect and God-breathed to see why the “Pi = 3” claim is nonsense. I provided a pretty decent link right there. No supernatural claims included.
