    One of the only Star Trek ships that looked at least somewhat aerodynamic.

    I think there’s an inconsistently-used design ethos in Star Trek where ships are designed along “warp-dynamic lines” or somesuch.

    And force fields are a convenience that real-space scifi almost can’t do without. Otherwise, any ship traveling near or past the speed of light would require massive hulls for radiation shielding.
