The United Kingdom is the Political Entity.
Great Britain is the physical mainland.
The British isles is all the land mass including things like the Isle of Man.

No, Britain’s war with Spanish-ruled Portugal was naval: the Spanish sent a bunch of boats to England with the intention of landing, but the English sunk their ships.
Independent Portugal has been officially allied with the English/British/UK since the 1200s, but unofficially since Richard the Lionhearted gave troops to the first King of Portugal. No English invasion of Portugal, ever. In was only during Spain’s 60 rule of Portugal that the alliance was broken, by the King of Spain, as Portugal had no government.
