I’m pretty sure the heads of the churches know it’s a scam too. Especially in the Catholic church, the LDS church and the Church of Scientology.

But the dead person may not even know there’s a religion – Christianity was formed centuries after his crucifixion. And since he didn’t know there was a religion he couldn’t have known if it was a scam or not.

By the definition of what you’re saying, Christ was not the head of Christianity. He was a teacher who said “people seriously need to treat each other nicer.”
Over time, he was given superpowers by people who put together a religion in his name.
I can only hope that in 2000 years Ghandhi won’t have been able to eat metals, and Hitler won’t have shot lasers from his eyes.

Ghandhi’s metal eating abilities are largely unknown, mostly due to his prolonged hunger strike.

No, but the real founder of Christianity, St. Paul, did know it was a scam.

For someone who wants everyone to go read shit and demand proof without just taking things for granted, this is a giant leap. We have none of Christ’s sermons as a recorded document. Most of what we base our knowledge of his life from is the Gospels, which were written between 50 and 150 years after his death, and none of it firsthand.

“I am quite sure” -
I’m sure you are, but the bible disagrees – the word “Christian” didn’t exist until Saul of Tarsus went to Antioch to preach, and that was 45 years after the crucifixion.
Acts 11-
25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
The earliest recorded use of the term “Christianity” is by Ignatius of Antioch about 107 AD But most “Christians” still considered it a sect of Judaism. Exactly when Christianity went from being a sect to a religion is unclear, but it was firmly established by the time Constantine’s Edict of Milan granted it tolerance in 313

If by cult we mean “religious group formed whose beliefs are abnormal and whose aims are not perfectly honest”, then this is nothing new. Polytheistic societies have a long history of money grabbing through religious mumbo jumbo, as wingnutty as anything in modern America.

christians represent America and it’s values??
Jeez dude you really are a nut job aren’t you.
Though if your entire MCS proflie was a troll I would be quite impressed.

Replace religion with church and you’re getting somewhere, but to say out of hand that religion is bullshit makes you as guilty of proselytism as the most rabid of bible-bashers.

Not necessarily so with cult leaders: surely some don’t know they’re scamming people. They could be sincerely delusional, believing that what they are teaching is truth. Aside: as for the various major world religions, how can one really know that each and all are scams?
