Christians always have an excuse for why ignoring parts of the bible is not only “not bad” but actually a good thing.

I can just bet Christians see Tebow’s antics as bravery. He *does* have enough faith to stand up to all the persecution followers of Jesus face every day after all.

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Tebow demonstrates one of the most disappointing types of religious people. The type that sees prayer as selfish wish fulfillment.

I was just going to add Matthew 6:6 myself… thanks for beating me to it.

Matthew 5:16 – In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

So you’re saying he should stop praying in public?

This man is greater than anyone on this site. Rip on him all day long. Call him a hypocrite yadda yadda. Fact is, you all secretly wish you were as amazing as him.

Teams with quarterbacks that can complete passes and offensive lines that can prevent sacks gonna advance in the playoffs.

Shut up idiots. Tebow goes off by himself to pray, a cameraman spots him, and some director in a booth decides to ignore the action on the field for a 2 seconds to switch over to him. And that’s being a hypocrite? He’s not doing anything different than he was before the whole country knew his name, nor is he doing any different than what most teams do before, during and after games. That being said, 1) Yes, Tebow is not a good QB right now; no, I’m not a fan. 2) He’s already stated publicly that he doesn’t believe… Read more »

“Tebow goes off by himself to pray, a cameraman spots him, and some director in a booth decides to ignore the action on the field for a 2 seconds to switch over to him.”

Is he not smart enough to understand that the cameras are there? Perhaps someone should have told him before he started painting his face with his piety.

Either he’s the idiot, or you are. Both is also a possibility.

Also, he’s hardly praying in a closet in the picture above.

“Is he not smart enough to understand that the cameras are there? Perhaps someone should have told him before he started painting his face with his piety.” His “piety” shouldn’t be hidden in his back pocket. He’s a christian where ever he goes, same as you’re an atheist/homosexual/furry/muslim/whatever where ever you go. He can and should practice his beliefs where ever he is, including the field. That’s his prerogative and decision. If some cameraman wants to film it, that’s that guy’s prerogative and decision, and if you want to get uselessly vex over it, that’s that your prerogative and decision.… Read more »

Regarding the closet, it was a reference to the bible. Don’t tell me that went over your head? He’s flaunting his religion, and even if it doesn’t make him a hypocrite according to *your* unique interpretation of the bible, it does make him come off as pretentious. As far as I know, there’s no time limit on the “power” of prayer, so he can just as well pray in the toilet, or before he goes to bed. Besides, everyone knows that god won’t help you whether you’re aspiring to win a handegg game or if you’re starving in Africa. He… Read more »

Tebow is the same man who went and did a Pro-Life commercial to air at last year’s Super Bowl, on national TV that was funded by a right wing religious group.
He may not claim that God is helping him win games, but he does claim that God wanted him to be born so he could be a great football player.

Hissss, aaaaah, the Jesusness, it Burns and it STINGS us, my precious! Make the nasty Tebow take it awaaayyyyy…. Rancid little vermin. Sports jocks doping and boozing and fornicating and wifebeating, slobber all over them. One of them PRAYING? You just about lose bladder control. The verse you’re quoting out of context (and oh aren’t we amused at being lectured in religion by people who would sooner bathe in fire ants than walk through a church door ) referred to the Pharisees, who weren’t merely praying where they could be seen– they were going out, *standing in the middle of… Read more »
