Not to say that they didn’t rehash that a million times, but some of these are just issues that had Phoenix on the cover. And the bottom left Sienkiewicz painting (which also appears with a border just two pictures up) was just the cover of a compilation of issues 129-137 (Death of Phoenix, which appears to the right of the Sienkiewicz painting, and ironically, is one of a few on there that doesn’t have the Phoenix costume or firebird image on it). The Fantastic Four cover is the return of Jean Grey, who turned out not to be Phoenix, so, kind of a tease, but comic covers have always been known to show things that don’t actually appear in the book, so whatever. I have to admit I’ve never seen that MAX cover in my life, but I am strangely intrigued.

Why is it that in my head I hear this in the voice of the comic book shop guy from the Simpson’s?
