Well, for one thing the lighting/shadows is far more sophisticated than Minecraft’s.

Well yeah I’ve noticed that’s kind of a thing some people like to do: recreate minecraft stuff in higher scale 3D renderers to get better shading and stuff for wallpapers and such.

Ambient occlusion makes a difference.
There is many minecraft mods around.
