“step step step”?
Is that really a necessary sound effect? Sound effects are like speech. Having sound effects in a scene like this kind of ruins it.

And at the same time, what kind of sound effect is “step”? It’s like using “punch” as a sound effect.
Think of the material of the shoe against the material of the floor. What does that sound like?

Apparently you have never read manga before. There are sound effects for everything. For example when you stare at something it sounds like “jiiii…”
So saying “step, step, step” is fine because it actually makes me think of the sound of someone walking.

That’s horseshit –”step” is hardly onomatopoeic.
July 7, 2011 at 8:54 pm
Did I say it was onomatopoeic? Nope. I even gave an example of a very commonly used sound effect that is also not onomatopoeic (As staring is silent). My point is that sound effects in manga, which is the style he says he is using for formatting, do not need to be onomatopoeic.
Also it is his own creative work so he can do whatever he pleases.

^ LOL…so when he’s climbing a wall, will the artist need to put in
“climb climb climb” sound effects to make you think of the sound
of someone climbing?
No one can do as they please if they don’t please me first.

“Fap, Fap, Fap”

Many words in the human language have been created to imitate the sound that word stands for. That is called Onomatopoeia. It’s pretty difficult to find the right words to describe the sound you want (not speaking about the step only), and since this the first time I create a manga/comic, whatever this can be characterized, I hadn’t given much attention on my written sound effects. I know my manga is professional work, but its my first try
.

See above. What sort of shoes is the person wearing? Something that might make a “clop clop” sound, or perhaps “shuf shuf” (“shuffle” actually being onomatpoeic.)

I was thinking he looks like a “shuffle shuffle”, personally.

I love the art in manga anime, but I don’t want to make a typical manga (right to left, Japanese sound effects etc). Maybe comic would be the right characterization.

why no tentacles?

A word on the title design: one could be forgiven if they glanced at it and thought it was called “TWAV”.

Might want to add some “bleed” to that background…
