I think it describes anonymous perfectly. The great hope of massively multiple online user cooperation has moved from group projects like Wikipedia to Anonymous–people exploring the limits of collective work not based on the goals that they can achieve, but by what the new paradigm can let them do with impunity. That’s why Pirate Bay has a lot more traffic than the group-processing SETI project.
