I don’t know about that. I thought the books were all pretty decent, none of them amazing. At least she let it mature and didn’t keep all the main characters alive and let even loved ones go because it made it more real and painful.
The movies on the other hand….ugghhh I can never decide whether I love them or hate them!

Perhaps my opinion is colored by the realization that Harry Potter is the most useless protagonist I’ve ever encountered in a book.
The first book should be called “Hermoine and friends saves Harry Potter”, or “He’s nothing special, his mother’s hug of love saved him”.

A rather astute observation! I have thought that a few times and completely agree. I mean, he isn’t an exceptional wizard, nothing about him other than the fact that he is ‘the chosen one’ is special…maybe she is trying to relate to her audience of the everyday, joe the wizard?

I think the books get better with each new book as well as the movies.
IMO this is one of those rare cases in which the movies are superior to the books.
