    I love Boxing, and have the deepest respect for boxers.

    And one has to admit no mater what you think of Boxing, Boxers are the best punchers in the world, bar none.

    Furthermore, Boxing is tragically misunderstood sport. While most people probably just thinks it’s two meatheads beating each other, it’s actually one of the most technical and precise displays of violence one can put on and not go to jail. There is a level of nuance and skill in Boxing that is belied by its outward appearance.

    But I can only watch Boxing for so long before I impatient because they’re only boxing. I get tired of watching them bounce around in their comfort zones without having to worry about anything that would make the fight interesting.

    Yes, Puulaahi, I will crap on any fighting style. I am a critical bastard. Go ahead, name something and I’ll criticize it mercilessly.

    Everything has pros and cons. Especially the fighting arts. I sell surfboards, same story, due to technology and how you want to surf.

    Boxing bores me now. It’s the original overhypes fighting sport, MMA is working on filling it’s shoes now with all the rules.

    MMA has a very slim rule set, to be honest. It’s the closest thing to and honest to god real fight that’s legal.

    I don’t like some of the rules, but I am speculating on which ones you don’t like. I’m guessing you don’t like the rules against eye gouging and groin strikes, correct? I’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

    I’m looking to have an actual conversion about MA here, not an internet dick tugging war, so I’m testing your attitudes about things.

    Kidding aside, I thought it would be interesting to inquire about your beliefs, since I know your style focuses on things that are diametrically opposed to current sport fighting.

    My background is a mixture of MMA and TMA, so my beliefs are often politically incorrect with both camps.

    I actually hate the TMA and MMA terms, because I think they’re a false distinction, but that’s for a another discussion.

    The article is interesting. I would agree with some of the conclusions, sort of. The list is a good list of things to train for self defense.

    My main objection is the perspective both the MMA camps(UGH) and the TMA camps(again UGH) view it.

    Basically, they’re both wrong.

    I am still a noob in Ninjutsu. Even though I am halfway to blackbelt and starting to teach. I have trained in MA off and on. Karate and Taekwando.

    Ninjutsu is MMA tbh. Just traditional MMA. I am still trying to figure out how to explain it, even the instructors have a hard time. I guess because the idea behind the art is to be free of technique/ while using technique.

    I am sure sometimes I sound like I have hatred toward modern day MMA. But the truth is I just hate the hype/blockhead attitude most people seem to have that train in it. I mean most people that do seem so attached to their arts, that they don’t sound that into mixed at all. And their pompous as hell.

    I love my dojo. My instructors kick my ass, challenge me and force me not just to be a discaplined fighter, but a better person. I am really into the philosophy behind it all too.

    Sambo, are you a Fedor fan?

    In regards to the topic, the rules being put in place are whats going to make MMA a legitimate sport. I prefer them, actually. I wouldn’t mind knees to the head of a grounded opponent(might help with/give tools to ground fighters and/or wrestlers to add another dimension), but thats a whole other debate.

    Speaking of rules, I thought I might add this.

    I’d like to see more bareknuckle MMA fights, for three reasons. One, the fights would be safer. If fighters had to be more conservative with their head punches, they would have less brain injuries. Two, I think it would make things more realistic, for obvious reasons. Three, I think we would see more techniques used that are ( currently) considered unrealistic or ineffective, because over time the fighting stances would shift back into the ones we saw during the heyday of bareknuckle boxing.

    I would also allow small joint manipulation, because I like wristlocking newbs inn BJJ just to see the look on thier faces.

    I dont like small joint manipulation. Eventually too many fighters would use it as a “cheap’ move because there were no other avenues for escaping….I’m sure some guys would/could turn it into an art, but plenty of others would do it also simply because its the only thing available.

    I like the current rules, granted I think PRIDE had a good thing going with yellow cards and some other allowances. Soccer kicks are popular, but I’m also kinda glad they are not allowed…Ehh, I’m kinda undecided on them actually.

    No offense and I’m sure you know, but your “3” wishes will never happen. Actually, a big reason why MMA has turned mainstream is because those certain things have been discarded.

    Mainstreams leads to over saturation and countless other negative aspects(particularly young punks), but what ever helps MMA become a legitimate, respected and world wide sport/event is ok with me….Sometimes, I do miss the good ole’ days though.

    I like, and miss, Pride rules, but I don’t think we’ll ever see them again.

    Also, I know my bare knuckle idea is a pipe dream. But a man can dream, can’t he?
