I enjoyed the graphic novel, the comic, and thought this was a great scene.

Easily Zach Snyders best film. I enjoyed Watchmen.

My only complaint about the movie is that they turned Dr. Manhattan into the scapegoat for everything, where as in the book, a “giant alien squid” was genetically engineered and teleported into Manhattan.

I read the book first but I think the movie had the better ending. Its rare, but it happens sometimes when the movie outdoes the source material.

Agreed, the movie ending was far better. The comic book ending was cheesy even for comic books and seemed really unrelated to the rest of the story.

Some people argue that the movie ending would have probably caused more panic than the sense of a world coming together to fight a common evil, considering Dr. Manhattan’s power.

That is a valid possibility, but the alien squid thing was way too convenient and contrived.

I preferred the movie ending too, but I don’t really see how the Comedian fond out about the whole thing.

I read the book not too long ago but I’m not sure I’ll watch the movies.

    1) Weren’t all the characters supposed to be old? Especially the comedian? In the pic and trailers they all look late thirties.

    2) Wasn’t Rorschach supposed to be the ugliest, shortest dude in the world?

    3) If the ending was better, bless it, though. I loved the comic but the ending was garbage. After all the work they put into the comic, the ending read like the cliff notes of Sirens of Titan with a bit of schlocky 50s c-movie thrown in.

I don’t recall getting the impression from the graphic novel that Rorschach was supposed to be really short. He might be on the short side for a man but “world’s shortest dude”? No, Mini-Me (Vern Troyer) isn’t even the world’s shortest man and he’s shorter than my 3 year old. 😛 He’s just supposed to be ugly and they probably couldn’t find anyone super ugly in Hollywood that would suit the role. So they got the guy who was later tapped to play Freddy Kruger. Movie ending is better IMO. The characters are old, the actors and actresses playing the… Read more »
