That’s such a gross oversimplification it only speaks to the absolute fucking stupidity of ever thinking there was any creditability to global warming. But at least we got a bunch of new taxes out of it right?
Theories should always be treated as such until you can qualify the theory. Otherwise its butthurt guesswork for free money and attention.
March 21, 2011 at 2:19 pm
Gravity, evolution, the big bang…
March 21, 2011 at 2:26 pm
You can’t explain that.
March 21, 2011 at 5:03 pm
Gravity is not quite understood…yet;
Theory of Evolution is still (very) incomplete;
…and the Big Bang is neither proven nor agreed upon.
March 22, 2011 at 6:59 am
The fossil record is incomplete. Evolution is watertight. Evolution doesn’t look to the fossil record for proof, or even evidence really. Evolution is proved with chromosomes, genes, genomes, DNA, etc.
March 22, 2011 at 3:07 pm
Evolution is water tight?
What pills are you on?
” Evolution is proved with chromosomes, genes, genomes, DNA, etc.”
Well that certainly sounds correct what with the pertinent words and all but BULLSHIT.
The process of change does occur but evolution is specific to advances and is used to explain human beings…to simpletons who need an answer. There is no answer.
You can’t take a monkey and prove it turned into a human being. You can draw comparisons but its still guess work.
These are the kinds of things you learn after you’re long out of high school and have moved beyond easy answers.
March 22, 2011 at 8:37 pm
@magnus
No one says monkeys became human beings and that is certainly not what evolution says.
What exactly are you arguing against? Evolution? How do you think we got here? You’ve confoos’ed me.
March 22, 2011 at 8:44 pm
I readily admit I do not know. I just know that nobody else knows for sure either. People see evolutionary theory and think its fact. Its not. Tomorrow somebody could find something or figure something out and the whole early primates in Africa maybe migrating over time to populate the whole planet would seem ridiculous.
Committing to evolution makes as much sense as accepting any religious texts as the answer(s). For some reason most people can’t accept that.
March 22, 2011 at 11:17 pm
Everything currently shows that evolution is correct and AFAIK there is little or nothing to contradict it. So we accept it as fact. We accept that any given scientific theory can be shown to be incorrect or need modifying by new evidence. We more or less know that going in. As a non-scientist, for whatever purpose, I’m just gonna accept it as fact.
March 21, 2011 at 6:14 pm
Don’t forget plate tectonics
March 21, 2011 at 8:00 pm
Gravity can be proven and recreated and is completely understood.
The other two…yup just theory. Sorry you thought everything was all figured out but thats all about as credible as any bible.
March 21, 2011 at 8:29 pm
Gravity cannot be recreated. Gravity is just the natural attraction objects create that is proportional to their mass.
I do like how you fall lockstep into right-wing ideology and then troll religion. That, sir, is epic trolling.
March 22, 2011 at 7:03 am
“Gravity can be proven and recreated and is completely understood.
The other two…yup just theory.yup just theory”
Scientific Theory or conjectural theory (hyposthesis)? Evolution is a proven hypothesis, repeatable within a lab. Not sure living organisms evolve? Check out “Italian Wall Lizards” or “Dawkins, Laryngeal Nerve” for some starter info on evolution.
March 22, 2011 at 3:02 pm
I don’t think you understand what a fact is.
Living organisms changing in a lab does not prove evolution not indicate any current theory is correct.
Its all guess work. Sorry to shit on what you thought was something all wrapped up but we’re no closer to understanding where we came from or how than we ever have been.
Its just theory based on observation. This is very true. Again I’m sorry if this ruins your day.
March 23, 2011 at 5:11 pm
You don’t know what a fact is. Or more likely you don’t care.
BTW, evolution is just the natural change that occurs in nature due to mutation. You even admitted this happens higher in the thread.
March 21, 2011 at 2:22 pm
Wait, you want someone elese to prove what they say? When I ask the same thing of you, you usually start calling me a control freak. You do everything you can to avoid proving what you say, but at the same time expect other people to do what you’re incapable of.
You constant childish hypocrisy is really amusing.
The theory is qualified. There are mountains of data on this subject. Even cursory attention to the facts shows a direct connection between the changes in our environment and our actions. Pretending otherwise lives up to your usual dishonesty.
I await your lame attempts to wiggle out of this one.
March 21, 2011 at 8:03 pm
Correlation is not the same as a fact.
Just because the sun rises every day and then you wake up does not mean you waking up makes the sun rise.
You’re a fucking idiot as usual. Go demand something from someone else you creepy, weak ass little fruit. Get a therapist. Casemods looks like a fucking rocket scientist compared to you.
March 21, 2011 at 8:36 pm
Perhaps you mean correlation does not imply causality?
If you’re going to get pretentious, Mags, try to get the term right.
I see you’re freaking out again over nothing. Are you feeling a little more insecure than normal?
March 21, 2011 at 9:30 pm
Way to combat the point…?
And yes I guess if you need the whol…who am I kidding. Sorry I confused you you fucking retard. lol
March 23, 2011 at 5:18 pm
No need to address the point. You’re just building a strawman argument.
March 21, 2011 at 7:39 pm
You’re such a republican caricature that you can’t possibly be real.
March 21, 2011 at 7:45 pm
I’m convinced he’s one of the greatest trolls of our generation. Or at least the last week.
March 21, 2011 at 8:17 pm
nobody cares about anything about you
March 21, 2011 at 8:31 pm
You care enough to respond. I’m touched.
March 21, 2011 at 9:32 pm
just letting you know you can stop demanding things of people and then barfing out what I think you’re convinced is your ‘opinion’
nobody gives a shit
March 21, 2011 at 10:02 pm
Thanks for proving me right. You have a complete inability to deal with a direct question. You usually just complain that I’m making demands or some bullshit.
What’s wrong? Too insecure to stand up for what you say?
March 22, 2011 at 8:48 pm
Ya you’re a real winner?
You can’t even see how stupid you’re being. You demand shit all the time as if you’re owed. Typical welfare nutcase behaviour.
Fuckoff, limpdick. You’re seriously sad.
March 23, 2011 at 5:20 pm
I see you’re following your usual cycle.
1. Make baseless statements.
2. Get outraged when people question you.
3. Make up shit about the person talking to you.
March 21, 2011 at 8:07 pm
How many people live in your wee little town? 2000? Fuckoff, hick.
March 21, 2011 at 2:32 pm
“Is that true? Why isn’t anyone talking about this?”
“Because it takes more than 140 characters to explain.”
Obviously, the author misspelled “Because it’s utterly retarded and easily refuted” in that last speech bubble.
First, “warmer air holds more water than cold air.” That’s true, but both meaningless and counterproductive for the argument. The claim here is that “warmer air”, defined as air that is currently warmer than is was 100 years ago, holds more water. That would be meaningful if the difference in temperature were 10 or 20 degrees Celsius, not the 1degree they claim for global warming.
But more importantly, like all global warming nutcases, they forget the difference between atmospheric temperature and ground temperature. Anything that affects atmospheric temperature will have the opposite effect on ground temperature because the primary source of heat is sunlight, and anything that absorbs sunlight in the atmosphere will prevent it from reaching the ground. That’s why cloudy days are so much colder than cloudless days (temperature at cloud level is higher, but lower at ground level). That’s why winter exists (Earth’s tilt causes sunlight to travel through a larger amount of atmosphere, thus causing it to lose most of its energy by the time it reaches the ground).
Anything that increases the moisture in the air will actively cause a cooling on the ground below it because water is really fucking good at absorbing sunlight (again, see clouds), and more than capable of offsetting the hell out of any “greenhouse effect” you might want to invent. You just can’t have an increase in atmospheric moisture and an increase in ground temperature (aka, global warming). Reality doesn’t work that way.
March 21, 2011 at 3:02 pm
I don’t have time for a long debate, but I thought I’d take a look at this little nugget:
“That’s why winter exists (Earth’s tilt causes sunlight to travel through a larger amount of atmosphere, thus causing it to lose most of its energy by the time it reaches the ground). ”
It actually has more to do with the angle of the Sun and shortened days. Read here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effect_of_sun_angle_on_climate
Also this one is good:
“You just can’t have an increase in atmospheric moisture and an increase in ground temperature (aka, global warming).”
Global Warming is an increase in near surface air and ocean temperatures, not ground temperatures.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming
I’m sure you were simply mistaken on that one point. Surely you didn’t deliberately distort the facts to try to refute the argument.
March 21, 2011 at 8:10 pm
Or maybe he doesn’t get his scientific knowledge from user published wikipedia you fucking retard.
March 21, 2011 at 8:25 pm
You criticize me for using Wikipedia, then you use Wikipedia later in the tread.
That’s hilarious, fucktard.
March 21, 2011 at 9:35 pm
I used it to point out the oil sands. Not much fucking around you can do with those facts.
You cited unconfirmed theories you thought were deal breaker facts.
Where did I lose you?
Because I also typed too. So there’s also that our two posts have in common. Nice grab, moron.
March 21, 2011 at 9:59 pm
You have a pretty shaky understanding of the word “fact”. Remember when you were claiming to know the contents of sealed FBI files?
I hate to break it to you, but the angle the sun’s rays hit the earth is a fact.
Also, my argument was that Sanity mis-defined Global warming. Even if you choose to disbelieve in it, I was citing a fact that the theory is about an increase in near surface air and ocean temperatures, not ground temperature.
So I was quoting facts.
Go back and re-read my statement and try to understand it, okay?
March 22, 2011 at 3:12 pm
You quoted wiki and misused bad stats to back asshole logic.
You know you’re full of shit so why do you persist?
The rest…you’re fucking out of your mind, kid.
As I’ve said before to your sorry ass go get a therapist.
March 23, 2011 at 5:23 pm
I haven’t used any statistics anywhere in this thread.
No surprise that you’re lying again.
March 21, 2011 at 4:12 pm
You people are like two bickering idiots on a sinking ship, pointing fingers at who’s to blame for poking a hole in the hull as the water rises around them.
The thing to remember is not whether or not global warming is happening, but rather that nothing will get done about it either way. The people who have the power to change it, don’t believe in it. And even those who do believe are unwilling to make the drastic changes in their lifestyle required to curtail it.
So it’s only when the effect starts wiping out huge populations of people and their offending CO2-producing technologies with them, that it will eventually subside. By that point, who knows what the world will look like. We as a species might not even survive it.
So enjoy what time you have left, because nothing is going to be done about it either way.
March 21, 2011 at 5:26 pm
You pretty much correct, but we’ll run out of oil before too long. We’ve almost hit peak oil( Or we have, depending on estimates.)
We’ll be forced to look for alternatives before too long, because our current energy sources will become too expensive to be viable even before they run out.
Rather than an environmental catastrophe, I predict a social one. Oil will run short and governments will scramble to obtain whatever limited resources are left. You can imagine the outcome.
March 21, 2011 at 8:15 pm
Are you totally fucking stupid?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athabasca_oil_sands
And its barely touched.
Peak oil? You’re pathetic. Even your bullshit is old and stale.
I predict you’ll continue to be a loser and lead a sad fucking life.
March 21, 2011 at 8:39 pm
So what if it’s barely touched. You’re missing the point entirely, but I’m guessing that’s on purpose. Do you even know what peak oil is?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_oil
March 21, 2011 at 9:38 pm
Do you?
Read the two. Maybe side by side will help.
Then crawl away. Thanks.
March 21, 2011 at 9:44 pm
Here’s a tip, mags. Throwing out an unrelated point and acting like it refutes what I say is the pinnacle of stupidity.
Peak oil is when the maximum possible oil production has peaked. That’s it.
Just because there are untapped reserves has nothing to do with it.
March 21, 2011 at 11:38 pm
So read the part about where they’re not at full production capacity, retard.
March 22, 2011 at 12:03 am
Peak oil refers to the productivity of the entire planet.
The Athabasca oil sands are not the entire planet.
March 22, 2011 at 3:14 pm
So you think peak oil refers to the sum?
That sum can’t be achieved without the sub parts at peak production. Otherwise how can the whole be?
Are you ABLE to think?
March 23, 2011 at 5:41 pm
Oil sands produce oil slower than typical production. The speed of production is a key element you’re missing. But that’s not the point.
Why are you even arguing that we haven’t hit Peak Oil?
I never even claimed that we have. We aren’t even projected to reach peak oil until 2020.
Good job building that strawman to suck me into.
March 21, 2011 at 5:48 pm
You’re almost right here, so kudos for that and one day I would like to buy you a drink.
What we have here are two camps; one camp is rational people who either trust another rational person with more understanding than themselves to tell them the truth or they are rational scientific people who actually go out and do the research. The other camp is either misinformed people, those paid to misinform people, those paying to misinform people, those with an interest in misinforming people, oil companies, gas companies, car companies, guess who has all the money and all the fools in the world on the paycheck.
But hey, it’s alright, they wont have to live with the consequences.
March 21, 2011 at 4:40 pm
I’m past the point of caring about global warming. Yeah, I’m convinced that’s its real, but we’re also past the point where we can do anything about it.
March 21, 2011 at 5:29 pm
Pretty much this. It’s happening, but as I understand it even if we cut all emissions to zero(which is impossible) things wouldn’t even begin to return to normal for another century.
March 21, 2011 at 6:34 pm
That’s the other big lie here, sorry to say you have been misled, the harm can be undone. I don’t blame you though because a great deal of money has been spent to confuse this issue. What always astonishes me though is either how apathetic or how vitriolic people are on the internet who have NO vested interest You might want to think about that? Come on, it’s not that hard.
March 21, 2011 at 7:59 pm
Hate to break it to you, but outside of geo engineering, CO2 levels will take some time to return to normal:
www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2005/03/how-long-will-global-warming-last/
I might actually listen to you if you support you next point instead of making some baseless assertion.
You might want to think about that? Come on, it’s not that hard.
March 21, 2011 at 9:40 pm
You’re a retard.
Quit trying to sound intelligent and then googling some crap to quote.
Did you see the part about you having no vested interest?
It must be pretty easy to live green when you’re poor as shit.
March 21, 2011 at 9:50 pm
You must be out of your fucking mind. Now you’re telling me what I have vested interests in. That’s funny.
You have a predictable pattern, Mags. You throw out a bunch of bullshit and then start making shit up when people call you on your bullshit.
You must have some sort of complex about your income. You frequently try to call people poor to insult them.
March 22, 2011 at 3:19 pm
You’re poor and therefore have a vested interest in hippyfag bullshit.
You probably can’t afford a car so you’r a big bicycle kinda guy right?
Understand now?
You are a poor ass little faggot who is so ashamed of himself he wants to attack the successful people by crying about mother earth and her tears of global warming. Fuck. Off. This childish bullshit should never have been listened to at all. It just told a bunch of fairies they could cry louder for more attention.
Thankfully thats done. Good bye. Time to get back to business.
2012 will be a rebirth for America. 🙂
March 23, 2011 at 5:29 pm
I see you are making up shit again.
By the way, you’ve never answered my question. Are you gay? It’s okay if you are. That sort of thing doesn’t bother me.
March 22, 2011 at 5:15 am
“That’s the other big lie here, sorry to say you have been misled, the harm can be undone.”
And then you should throw some scientific arguments, not standard accusation of being paid by some unspecified forces.

That one post made more sense than all the dumbshit hippie bullshit posted in this thread combined.
