I think this is the hardest memorial there is to visit. It is open twice a year, for six hours at a time. It is LITERALLY in the middle of nowhere. AND- It’s still very radioactive.

The Geiger Counters were showing 1/4 – 1/2 on their guage… whatever that meant. But they were constantly fluxuating. And that was 1/4 mile from ground zero.

I have a souvenir rock from this place. My mom got it for me back in the 80s. It is black volcanic looking rock with a section of it melted into a lime green glass looking spot. Maybe I can find it and put up a photo.

That green glassy blob is called Trinitite, and it is radioactive.

I visited there last year. It was pretty interesting.
