Lincoln was considered very ugly in his time. He was also supposed to have a very high pitched and squeaky voice.
Basically, he was as uncharismatic as one could get. Many people commented that he was so charmless he could never get into office, which says something in a time before radio of television.
Otherwise he was probably the best president we could get.
