I adore the colours and design. It’s indeed an old theme but it only sucks when it’s poorly executed and/ or absolutely meaningless to the owner, which is not the case here.

I think it says ‘a coi (or some kind of fish) jumps the dragon gate’. Maybe the description or name of the painting it’s based off of?
Not sure though, it’s in traditional, I only learned simplified.

It’s in the Japanese style and probably from Japan, but the writing is Chinese. East Asians used to use ancient Chinese like medieval Europeans used Latin. Ancient Chinese is sort-of parsable if you can read modern Chinese, because the characters obscured the pronunciation changes.
Anyway, dude, if you’re looking for a different stereotype, in China the only dudes you see with tattoos like that live in shitty ghettos without plumbing, work for cheap pimps and wander around looking to beat up whores that try to escape. So don’t take a trip over here or else people will think you’re only strong enough to beat up girls who don’t have enough money to eat everyday.

i came for the tough criticism and i was not disappointed. In fact most of the criticism avoids the tattoo itself and focuses on me, my background and tries to fit me into stereotype group, which is fine. thanks guy, maybe when u’d be happier if you weren’t to terrified of eachother’s opinion, rly lighten up and live a little
