Basically 1984 with one more party.
People should read that book. People use it as shorthand for a lot of stupid stuff, which makes people develop a knee-jerk reaction of disregarding what they say, but it’s a surprisingly prescient read of what the future would be.

When I get stressed about politics/economics/whatever, I have a simple solution: turn off the news. No TV, no newspaper, no internet. Just appreciate the world around me as it actually is instead of how it’s portrayed in the media. Takes about a week to realize that shit’s not nearly as bad as the news would have you believe.
