Freedom of not getting your ass blown up while flying, bub.
Even though all those attempts were from extremist Muslims on inbound international flights. No, I’m sure it was a good use of tax dollars, and people won’t mind coughing up a few more civil rights to be safe. Even though the new screening processes have a 70% failure rate and most likely wouldn’t find explosives.

He did. He even wrote a letter to a US diplomat, asking for their help and input regarding what information needs to be censored but they refused to work with him.
Perhaps it’s a good idea not to get your information from CNN or FOX. Even if we assume that he was reckless, it’s not corruption. Unless you consider character assassination a personal gain.

I’m pretty sure the scanners were referred to as security measures, not freedom. And Assange has been called many things, but terrorist is nonsensical, since he has done nothing violent. There are much more intelligent ways to protest intrusive airport security measures and support WikiLeaks. Taking things to extremes is a stupid way to argue.

You’re missing the point. After 9/11, Bush famously said “They hate our freedom”, and then proceeded to start taking it away. Now it’s gotten to the point where you get a digital strip search. A much much better president said “any society that is willing to give up freedom in exchange for security deserves neither”.
And Assange is being labeled a terrorist by the powers that be, but all he did was uncover state sponsored terrorism by the US government.

You know I often forget Jefferson was never president. Could have been if he’d wanted. I still stand by my assertion that he was a better president than Bush, which is really saying something seeing as he was never actually president.

You’re right, Manning is the hero, but it’s not Assange’s fault that the media can make more money off him than off the torture of a soldier. As much as I like Assange, I do wish Wikileaks had remained faceless.
Decades from now Bradley Manning will be celebrated by the American people, just like Ellsberg is. I just hope he survives this.
