  1. Don’t bother, Christians don’t respond well to logic and reason.

    • Atheists aren’t winning any prizes in those categories either.

      • Do you really want to represent the Christian side with a “no U”? You’re helping me!

      • Actually they are, almost every year….
You trying to equate religious type with Logic ?
        Good luck with that.

      • So there are assholes on the internet that are theist and atheist. Wow. Thats a strong argument you have there.

Atheists are people like anybody else, you would expect there to be some dickish types among them. Penn Jillette’s dickishness, as intentional and amusing as it is, is separate from his atheism. He gets things wrong, especially if it happens to be something that his libertarian beliefs favor despite the evidence.

Agnostic atheists, in one single part of their life, are more rational, reason driven and logical than theists. That may carry over to rejecting other kinds of supernatural and irrational beliefs, or it may not, but we do have one that up on theists of any kind.

  2. The Old Testament is actually very polytheistic in nature. It never claims that all of the other gods don’t exist, just that you’re not supposed to worship them.

  3. Paranoid apes the lot of us….

  4. I see the debate of the existence of God everywhere, and it usually boils down to
    “Prove He’s real!”
    “Prove He’s not!”
I contend that there is not good argument neither for nor against the existence of God. The Abrahamic religions are Faith-based, and as such are inherently structured to resist being proved or disproved — if God is proved, He’s science, disproved, He’s mythology. The very definition of Faith is that it requires a distinct lack of proof in either direction. Further, to have Faith, one much agree that there is a good chance that what they believe in is wrong. Again, if there’s no chance they can be wrong, that’s not Faith, only science. On the other hand, you can’t disprove a negative. You can’t prove God doesn’t exist anymore than you can prove there isn’t life on other planets, or that pigs can’t fly. So what we’re left with is an intergalactic Shroedinger’s Cat, where each side of the argument has to be right in order for either side to be right or wrong.

    • To believe something as life-altering as the Judeo-Christian god without any evidence is folly.

If I dream something up I have to provide evidence of its existence to justify my beliefs, and more so if I want to convince somebody else.

I wouldn’t mind a Mormon on my doorstep if he had anything more than stories glimpsed from the insides of a hat.

The “prove that my god *doesn’t* exist” falls because whoever uses that argument doesn’t live by it, except when it comes to his/her particular god.

      • Exactly. The “burden of proof” lies with whoever is saying a thing exists, proving the positive.

Also, I have to point out that most Christians I know don’t believe in the Judeo-Christian God. They believe in their own good intentions and morals, and apply the name of God to them as validation. The Biblical God has too many similarities (almost to the line item) with dictators like Stalin and KJI for any decent American to follow Him and love Him.

The Pope accused Atheists of making up their own morals, but that’s exactly why America has a 85% Christian population, because they’ve had the freedom of religion that allows them to change and reinterpret the Bible as often as they need. If Christian still had to follow the Bible exactly, we’d still be in the Dark Ages, we’d still own slaves, women would still be property, etc.
