When I was in the service I used smoke right after some long ass battalion runs. I would almost immediately start breathing more normally. Probably just a mental thing, but dark tobacco (read: cigars) is simply outstanding stuff.

Cilia are small hairs in the throat/respitory system that help move mucus out of you – so instead of having a throat/upper resp sys full of outgoing mucus you stopped the process – you were able to breathe slightly easier thanks to the break (IMO, just my understanding of that), but its supressing the cleaning system. Same logic with preventing a cough, a cough isn’t very comfortable and seems like a negative thing, but it’s obviously needed to clean crap out.

Do you deny your health is negatively affected by smoking?
Anyone who dies of smoking-related illnesses should be nominated for a Darwin Award.
