Everyone just reads Catcher in the Rye because they are forced to by high school. But 9 Stories is much better work.

I never had to read Catcher In The Rye in High School.

You didn’t miss much.
Catcher in the Rye is an acquired taste… similar to drinking hand sanitizer.
I find that people who defend this book as a classic are a bit shallow. Siddhartha has a similar meaning / spirit, but is much deeper. Skip Catcher in the Rye and go straight to a good book.
Unless drinking hand sanitizer is simply your thing.

kindly disagree
There’s proper time in life for reading some books. You was probably to mature while reading this, so that’s why… If you put it off, later may be too late. “Cather” is this kind of book, also “To Kill a Mockingbird”.

Now I read To Kill A Mockingbird. Bu the book that has stuck with me most from High School is Lord Of The Flies.

I despised two required reading books from school. To Kill A Mockingbird and The Pearl (Steinbeck). I have yet to finish either of them, and I’ve tried…more than once.
