Actually, in some ways he did – as a Senator, Gore crafted the High Performance Computing and Communication Act of 1991 (commonly referred to as “The Gore Bill”) The bill was passed on December 9, 1991 and led to the creation of the National Information Infrastructure (NII) which Gore referred to as the “information superhighway” and which many people refered to as the early Internet.
Without that bill ARPANET would still belong to the military and there would be no public “Intarwebz”
He never said he invented the technology behind the internet, that was the clever work of Republican spin doctors.
Still, any good history of the internet should really include that item.
