Czech Republic? What the fuck have I been doing in Poland all this month when blissful green is right around the corner. Jeez.
July 26, 2010 at 6:14 pm
Poland too. Hmmmmm.
July 26, 2010 at 6:24 pm
It’s decriminalised in Australia? Hahaha, no, it is in one territory, the ACT, the capital. Everywhere else it’s illegal to possess, grow and sell. It’s just like any other westernised country where authority acts like they’re saving lives by locking people up and fining kids (well… their parents) hundreds of dollars for a bud the size of a thumbnail.
July 26, 2010 at 6:59 pm
i think this graphic loses a bit of credibility when it talks about the number of marijuana related deaths. people may not die from ingesting too much THC, but i know people do a lot of stupid stuff when theyre high.
i include drunk-driving accident in alcohol related deaths, because while someone may not have succumbed to alcohol poisoning, they still die because someone had too much.
July 26, 2010 at 7:29 pm
Difference between alcohol and weed is alcohol lowers your inhibitions, hence why more people die. Their stupidity is enhanced and fueled, however I’ve never seen anyone put their life at risk while stoned. They’re more likely to burn themselves badly with hot oil while cooking, lol. While they’re both depressants, comparing the two is ridiculous. I love the battle to save humanity from their own stupidity, it’s seems so much easier with a scapegoat.
July 26, 2010 at 7:49 pm
you are totally correct with alcohol and inhibitions. but pot affects people very strongly too. you would have a very difficult time proving that driving while high, intoxicated, etc. is even close to as safe as driving completely sober. and i know that people have been arrested for driving while being stoned, so thats a general example of people putting their lives in danger while high.
on a more personal level, one of my friends (i guess hes more of an acquaintance, since i only worked with him for 1 summer) used to make a habit of sliding down buildings be grabbing the corners where the the walls come together. one night, while high, he thought it would be a great idea to do his spider-man trick. it resulted in him falling about 8 stories and somehow escaping with only a broken neck that eventually healed.
by itself, i definitely concede that alcohol is far more dangerous because of its social status and legality. but you (this graphic, i mean) cant go out and say that weed isnt dangerous. people still do stupid things.
July 26, 2010 at 8:28 pm
I guess my point is stupid people do stupid shit anyway, regardless of their drug of choice. But it makes everyone feel better to blame something.
July 26, 2010 at 8:33 pm
also – I smoke, and drive while stoned, but never at a point where I’m like “Dude… whoa, things are like, vibrating all around me.” Because well, that’s stupid. I guess I don’t see people doing dangerous shit while stoned because I don’t hang around idiots.
July 26, 2010 at 10:17 pm
futher more, those who smoke before/while driving typically take further precautions just to avoid any conversations with authorities. Always checking their rate of speed, complete stops at stop-signs, making sure to give the right of way……. ya know, the stuff most us California drivers DON’T DO. I drove cross county, and I didn’t even need to read the signs to be able to tell when I finally hit California. It was like waiving the starting flag crossin into Cali. “And They’re off!!!”
July 26, 2010 at 10:52 pm
They have to take those precautions because they’re not sure they can trust their driving otherwise. I don’t care what anyone smokes, pops, snorts, ingests or shoots, but don’t think for one second that you’re a safe driver while under the influence of any of it.
July 26, 2010 at 11:14 pm
what about under the influence of painkillers? Caffeine? Alcohol still in your system from the night before? What about driving tired? What about driving aggressively when you’re in a bad mood? What about driving distracted, with things on your mind? Or driving while talking on the phone? Text messaging while driving? Checking facebook/email? What about dudes who get a blowjob while driving? Or even just talk to other people?
If you get down off your high horse for a moment you’ll realise there is no such thing as a safe driver (I crashed and almost killed myself while being completely sober, and so do other people, everyday) and the reason it’s compulsory to wear a seatbelt is because driving is not safe, ever, lol.
The whole planet (like, billions of people man) are all at different levels of intelligence and capability. The fact that you smear someone’s abilities because at some stage they might not be completely focused on the road is hilariously naive. People are going to be better/worse drivers whether they smoke weed or not, lol. Drivers who are completely self-absorbed are the most dangerous on the road, because they have no awareness of what’s going on around them or perception of their own driving.
Pretty sure if you can judge speed, distance and remember road rules, you’re already doing better than most of the people on the road anyway.
July 27, 2010 at 12:06 am
Did you somehow miss:
I don’t care what anyone smokes, pops, snorts, ingests or shoots, but don’t think for one second that you’re a safe driver while under the influence of any of it.
July 27, 2010 at 12:57 am
No, I was wondering why you feel the need to address my post personally as ‘retarded and dangerous’, when put in perspective, everyone drives ‘dangerously’. You act as if driving straight is like driving with an invisible forcefield that saves you and everyone around you.
July 27, 2010 at 1:18 am
I replied to yours because you wrote about it so nonchalantly, confident that you drove safely (slightly) high. You don’t. No one does. You seemed to think that driving slower w/ constant focusing on your driving meant that you were driving safely. You’re not.
July 27, 2010 at 3:24 am
I drive safely most of the time, due to (as I mentioned earlier), almost dying in a car accident. I’m old enough and intelligent enough to know when I’m capable of driving, because if it took devastating amounts of brain power the majority of people wouldn’t be able to get their license. I’m not nonchalant, I just don’t think it’s the crisis you make it out to be.
July 27, 2010 at 11:49 pm
I’ll ask again in 25 years and see what you say.
July 27, 2010 at 12:17 am
People will drive when they shouldn’t. If something happens and they were unfocused for some reason, they’re guilty. There are known problems that can be outlawed. It is now illegal to text while driving, non hands-free phones are illegal in some states, ephedra has been banned. In some states you can be charged for driving while tired and causing an accident. There are so many drivers now that many more laws are necessary to deal w/ it. When I started driving I could drive the whole length of Staten Island and never see another vehicle. Now you can’t drive a tenth mile w/o being behind another car. More people driving means more dangerous roads.
July 26, 2010 at 10:48 pm
That’s retarded and dangerous.
July 26, 2010 at 10:51 pm
good. Cruising around at 10kms under the speed limit and trying as hard as I can to drive perfectly as to not attract attention from anyone makes me feel alive, man
July 26, 2010 at 11:25 pm
I can’t even describe the hate I feel for any driver going under the speed limit. Ughh, old people and druggies.
July 26, 2010 at 11:27 pm
Lol. I actually just prefer not to drive. Don’t forget asians and soccer mums too.
July 26, 2010 at 9:51 pm
Free climbing an 8 story building at night is stupid dangerous no matter what your level of inebriation.
July 26, 2010 at 8:15 pm
Cannabis Makes You A Better Driver!
July 26, 2010 at 8:12 pm
you can get high from the dried leaves of the male plants as well, but not as high, and the male plants don’t produce buds, and do contribute to the production of seeds, so they’re not encouraged as much…
July 26, 2010 at 9:18 pm
In before Kommitard.
July 26, 2010 at 10:51 pm
